paid £200 for pushchair payment plant now unavailable

Hi me and my partner went to a store and fell in love with a trabep system which was on offer for £699 we discussed a payment plan starting small and when it got to half it would be ordered weve now we have paid £200and the manufacturer has discontinued the pushchair but will be rereleasing it for morw money, the shop have said we can either pay more or have the ex display item and continue paying as we are,
My questions are, are we entitled to a refund as we asked if any new pushchairs would be released before we get it and she said not before june, im not saying its the Stockists fault but shouldnt we be offered it at a reduced price beong ex display? And even so we dont rwally want the ex diaplay as you fant really clean it thoroughly and are woried as you dont know what germs people touching it may be carrying,

Is this an independent shop? What is the pushchair called-not heard of trabep.
Have you checked with the manufacturer this is actuallly the case?
Some traders like to sell ex display items as its in effect like selling the item second hand and they think they have fewer responsibilities this way.
Ask for all your money back and go elsewhere.is there another way you can save up the money?
They should have earmarked one for you .it is poor service from the stockist.

  • For goodness sake, if you cant afford to buy a trendy high end push chair outright you should buy something much cheaper as you are going to have to buy a vast amount of other baby stuff.

Just cancel the order or change it to something more affordable. The supplier cant hold on to your money if they cant supply what you ordered.

Sorry I did not realise that, I thought this was a public forum mainly concerned with saving money not wasting it.

When some people have babies they want the absolute best of everything no matter the cost. I personally think it's silly a £200 pushchair would do me. I'll even take the ones the charity shop has available to save some money.

I think your comment was okay.

You did state if the supplier can't supply the goods then they should refund any money paid so far.

Personally I would never make monthly payments on account to a company before buying an item. What if the company goes bust. All payments have been lost, there's no pushchair and now you don't have the money to even buy the £200 one.

    Apology accepted.

Perhaps when the op wants advice on which pushchair to buy she should post that question and you can answer?

Judging by this post of yours , your an expert on 'wasting 'money , so perhaps not..

  • Hi thanks for the help i meant travel not trabeb system lol its a mamas and papas urbo2,

Also the reason i opted for the payment plan option was because i only recieve around 1400 per month and ots a large local store where many people locally do this and thought it would help spread the cost, also we opt for the newer one because we have 4 children and only bought a new one for the first this lasted for twochildren before being donated to charity store, and bought 2 secondhand pushchairs both different brands after for the other 2 children both looked very good condition and both turned out to be of very poor quality and conned with the second one having a defect andwouldnt offer a refund.

    Thanks

Don't feel bad for paying £400 for a travel system. I spent less before and ended up with a travel system I hated. If it's the right pram for you then it's worth it.

Your the one that has to push it over bumpy paths/up big hills, lug it into a car/bus/train, try to push one handed whilst holding a child's hand/shopping or carrying the little one that's supposed to be in the pram.

A cheap pram with flimsy plastic wheels and no suspension is horrible to push.

Not only that a travel system includes a car seat as well plus sometimes a separate carrycot so £400 isn't that bad.

Does the shop not have something else suitable? In regards to the ex-display - I wouldn't worry about germs I doubt there will be anything on there that a baby won't come into contact off the sofa/carpets etc in your house. However, I would want a reduction in price if buying ex-display.
  • Please, think of the child.
