Technically no, but providing it's a wholly unused ticket, then in practice, people can give a ticket to a friend or family member without incident. If I'm allowed to buy a ticket for someone else am I allowed to buy a ticket for myself and then later decide to give the ticket to a different person?
In most cases, a ticket can be bought by anyone for anyone, but may not be transferred....Seems like Virgin and other operators have contradictory information about transferring a ticket.
In practice, as stated above, transferring a wholly unused ticket, to a friend or family member, is going to be okay, even if technically it's not permitted.0
