Go back to post #9.
If you buy a ticket a ticket on line and have it printed out at a station ticket machine it will almost certainly have your name on it no matter which train company site you used to do the on line purchase.
Nope.
Collected my tickets today, printed on a ticket machine at my local NR station, bought from the GWR website, no name anywhere on them.
Even collected them with a different card than that used to purchased them with, which, according to some, is impossibleAccept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

It depends on which website you use, some websites set bookings made through them to 'any card' collection, while some set it to 'same card' collection.
I used GWR. It says on their own website that you need the same card you used to book the tickets to collect them and that if you don't have the card you have to contact them.
From experience, it seems if you collect from a machine on a different network you don't need the same card. The machines I use are all on the former North London Line, now Overground or TFL Rail, formerly Abellio GA.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

I regularly book tickets for business travel via our company's online travel resource, rather than booking myself and having to claim back on expenses. They don't have my card details. When collecting my tickets from the machine at my local station (run by virgin trains) I have to enter any credit/debit card first for id and can then collect the tickets (which don't have my name on) by entering the reference...0 -
I recently collected a load of tickets in the new style ticket format, and they did not have a name printed on them.p00hsticks wrote: »I regularly book tickets for business travel via our company's online travel resource, rather than booking myself and having to claim back on expenses. If I'm allowed to buy a ticket for someone else am I allowed to buy a ticket for myself and then later decide to give the ticket to a different person?0

Of course. If it's a railcard discounted ticket then the other person will need to have the corresponding railcard too0

Virgin Trains' website has in their terms and conditions:-
"We, the train operating company and the ticket inspector reserve the right to refuse to accept your ticket to the extent that [...] we or they have reason to suspect [...] transfer to a different person" - https://www.virgintrains.co.uk/terms-conditions#term9
Seems like Virgin and other operators have contradictory information about transferring a ticket.0 -

Virgin are referring to fraudulent transfer there
Mind you proving (or disproving) fraud isn't straightforward0
