1 of my pet peeves is bumping old threads, but as this thread hasn't been concluded it needs a bump for anyone who was interested in the outcome :)

I gave her the kiln yesterday which she was not expecting because i had told her i ordered a new numberplate. She was a bit shocked and the first question she asked was where did i get the money from to buy it? So i told her i didn't buy the numberplate and bought her that instead :D

When i wrote this thread i couldn't see what was romantic about a kiln but what touched more was me giving up something i wanted, to get her something she needed.

I spent the last of the money on 2 tickets to a valentines ball last night. After the meal we were 1 of the first couples on the dance floor, so with the first dance we danced the tango. Doing that with her means a lot and its not something we do very often. I'm not going to go into why because this post is long enough, but that was the romantic valentines gesture and with the kiln, really that was just the right thing to do with money :)

So you've learned something about giving gifts and made your wife a very happy lady. :)

Well done, glad it went down perfectly. :T

Aw spinkz told you it was romantic.
It was the selfless act of kindness that was romantic :) that was what i couldn't see when i wrote this thread. My mind was more inclined towards the typical valentines gifts than what was important.

You should consider giving the majority of blokes lessons on giving gifts now you've learned the secret. :)

awwwww - that's so touching spinkz! so glad she was pleased with her gift! and to spend what was left on a romantic 'date' must have put the cherry on the top with her.
