I'm ordering it tomorrow so its here on time and i triple checked opinions by asking her sister this morning if she thought it was a good idea, which she didFenellaWitch wrote: »Please buy her the kiln so she can do glass jewellery -I love it and she would have a good customer in me .It is a romantic present though, I have always wanted a saxophone even though I can't play one but would love to learn how to.
Cheers uber, that's the Spinkz effect™ for you :rotfl:Spinkz , you have pulled * many numbers, you old romantic.

My husband bought me a saxophone for Christmas many years ago. I'd mentioned that I'd fancied learning to play one, and so he bought me one.
Never used it, it was a passing fancy. If something pops into my mind now, I don't mention it anymore as I'd probably end up getting one!0 -
I think she'll love it Spinkz!
A few years ago, my OH bought me a pair of Sealskinz socks (a waterproof brand used for camping) as we go LARPing and it's always muddy and I'd mentioned I couldn't afford a pair right then (about £25).
So he bought me them for Valentines Day
in his words "because nothing says I love you like dry feet".
And he's right! My comfort and enjoyment of our shared hobby meant a lot to him, and that's SO much better than a poxy bunch of flowers.

She's been saving up for this metal firing kiln thing for ages! She makes jewellery and having that would mean she could make better stuff. It costs £895 and i have enough to buy it, but its not really a romantic gift is it?
Nothing says i love you more than a kiln :rotfl:what do people think if you received a kiln on valentines day?
If you spent this sort of money on helping her making better jewellery, I think that is the greatest Valentine's gift idea you could have. It doesn't matter if kiln is romantic or not, but that it is something she wants, needs and that will help her!0 -
We need to know what she thinks about the gift.

Update required by 10am 15th Feb, please.

What on earth could be better?! You know she really wants it and won't be expecting it, she'll be over the moon. I think it's a brilliant idea! Often the presents you're unsure about are the ones the recipient loves the best I find

1 of my pet peeves is bumping old threads, but as this thread hasn't been concluded it needs a bump for anyone who was interested in the outcome

I gave her the kiln yesterday which she was not expecting because i had told her i ordered a new numberplate. She was a bit shocked and the first question she asked was where did i get the money from to buy it? So i told her i didn't buy the numberplate and bought her that instead
When i wrote this thread i couldn't see what was romantic about a kiln but what touched more was me giving up something i wanted, to get her something she needed.
I spent the last of the money on 2 tickets to a valentines ball last night. After the meal we were 1 of the first couples on the dance floor, so with the first dance we danced the tango. Doing that with her means a lot and its not something we do very often. I'm not going to go into why because this post is long enough, but that was the romantic valentines gesture and with the kiln, really that was just the right thing to do with money
