    Good Evening All

Jonno - Thanks for starting us off today

Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

Today I have had a lovely day, we went for a lovely walk round our local park and then while DH and DS were kicking the ball about at the football nets I did another 2 circuits of the park and then I walked up to the local library and had a lovely browse and DH and DS met me there. Weather was beautiful (but very chilly) while we were out but took a turn for the worse once home and we had wind, rain, snow, rain so DS was in his room and DH and I watched a DVD we'd borrowed from the library. But we also

    All meals from cupboards
    LSD (only bought a newspaper)
    Watched DVD from library
Spent bit of time punching shapes out of used coloured envelopes (great for crafting & pre-school)
    Checked Banks
    Bump all sale listings/freecycle/facebook
    Read (Live More, Spend Less)
Finished a piece of art for a friend
    Entered a couple of comps
Checked https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win -
    Checked Lucky Phone

Have a good weekend. Love to you all!

    Night all

    C x

    ETA

    Also managed

a lovely pamper session using up ends of bottles and tubes
    a DIY manicure
    requested cashback from TCB

    Morning all.
We are officially a tag team house. As I was going to lambing shed at 5 this morning I met she coming in. Pampered girls ours.
All ok. Did pens, fed babies and am now back in and planning menus.
Thought a turkey is a good idea. It will keep men in sandwiches whilst I am in work etc.
    All machines on cheap rate.
    Happy Sunday all.

ally thanks for the tips for damp things, it's not those ones we have some that you put a block in and the water drips through. Will investigate though

DNMS thanks for the note about food, will try and have a think about those, good tip, particularly as we eat a lot of spicy food

    Hi everyone

Oh Ziggy - when you tell us about things like that I can't help but get a little bit homesick for my second home. Sounds like a lovely day. :)

Maria - proud of you resisting the chicken sale - you are strong! Sounds like the lambing is keeping you busy in any case.

Well, I had to get up early today - so much to do before I need to leave at 11.15...

    Should hopefully be an NSD...
    All meals from stores
Doing my own nails/pedicure/eyebrows - no salon treatments for me :naughty:
    Clearing out!
    Freegle-ing things :A
Hopefully going to make over £200 today - going to loan repayment

The money I make today is a great start towards the extra £600 we need to find for Feb - so feeling quite positive so far...

Money manifestation is my middle name today. :p

    Have a good day everyone!

    :coffee:

A nice wake up by ds2 this morning, a big cwtch and sloppy kiss :) Been up about half an hour with him and he's just read his reading book to me whilst cwtched up on the sofa under a blanket, lovely start :)

Aww make the most of it. My 17 year old came in last night and threw his arms around me and said "love you Mum" which was lovely. He is getting to an age now where he does this occasionally unlike the 15 year old who mostly communicates with me in words of one syllable.

Had any awful conversation with the boys last night. Basically I moaned at them for always snacking and they both said that if there was more to eat at mealtimes they would snack less. I felt like such a bad person! What they basically want is more meat content in our meals, not more veg, potatoes, bread or pudding. We are on a really tight budget so I need to give this some thought. If I increase the food budget something else has to go.

Oh and Maria I love chickens but I have a terrier who is hard wired to attack anything small that moves quickly. It wouldn't end well.

    Morning all,

We're headed up into snowy Glencoe soon on an overnight Photogra-Faff but wanted to post before we go. Sitting here in a hat until I warm up.

So, a modestly priced mini-holiday today:

    * Headed to self-catering log cabin. No extra charge for electricity.

    * Take double medication in case we get stranded.

    * Take double the clothing we need so that, whatever happens, we won't need to buy more.

    * Take paracetamol, lipbalm etc with us. If we need to buy such things up North they've very expensive. Fail to prepare; prepare to fail.

    * Taking most of our own food. Will try to acquire cut price roasting bird en route for dinner tonight.

    * Will fill both flasks for the journey.

    * Taking DVDs etc with us for tonight.

    * Will stay away from local cafes...unless we are out somewhere and get too cold.

    * Will charge all gizmos in the cabin before leaving.

    * Taking own bed linen. Not paying £10(!) to hire it.

    * Will get fuel in the cheaper area. It's hideously expensive further up.

What have you folks got lined up for today?

Hi Yorkshirelass, a small thing I do when I'm using mince is bulk it out/double it with dry soya mince http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=260261027 - no-one has ever noticed ;)

Do you have a slow cooker? You can get away with cheaper cuts of meat that are generally tougher, but fine if they've been slow cooked.

    Big hugs my dear :grouphug:

Ally - sounds like a fab wee break - looking forward to seeing the pics.

OK, I'm really going now... Must class plan
  • Morning guys  yorkshirelass try not to feel bad you are doing the best you can in difficult financial situations. Small suggestions that might help, work out the times your local SMs ys food and try to shop then, agree with La E re sc cheaper cuts of meat, my oh is on a high protein diet and he gets tins of mackerel and tuna to up his protein consumption. It is tough, but your kids are growing up now so this lean period won't last forever. Soon they will be contributing the household income and things will get easier x

Very happy bunny this morning :j just worked out our budget for Feb and we have managed an extra £370 to our debt this month :T This is a combination of usual £100 from joint account, using my tips & holiday money each week to make overpayments - managed £112 in Jan :D - not having to pay CT in Feb and just cutting back on other areas :money:

By only spending £138/£180 gc I have put £10 into savings for Christmas food as well :D

    Small plans for today:

    * fold up washing & put away (didn't do yesterday)
    * Hang up washing in machine
    * wrap godson's birthday gift & write card (20p from the card factory :money:)
    * going to godson's birthday party today. As it's in the local seaside town we will go for a seafront walk afterwards. Will take fruit and drink for dgd
    * might stop for a pint during/after the walk
    * all meals from stores - roast beef this evening mmmm
    * roast some veg while oven is on for sandwiches during the week
    * bath and facial this evening
    * empty vaccum cylinder and vacuum stairs & upstairs
    * knitting & reading book for entertainment

That'll do me! Have a great day everyone x

  • Morning all :D
Well it's looking cold out there and I've spent the last 2 hours on my bum procrastinating. Thoroughly enjoying a lazy Sunday morning with a cuppa and a bacon sarnie, and even my family for a change... It's a long time since I've had them up and about with me on a weekend morning. Woken at half six by the cats...
So, time to check in on here before the day begins properly and I don't stop.
    :grinheart check banking and PAD
:grinheart 2 hours of tutoring today
:grinheart visit my mam this afternoon for tlc and a free feed
:grinheart bit of baking for next week - not leaving the banana cake this time.
:grinheart make chicken goujons for tomorrow
:grinheart do not stress about work
:grinheart try and find the time to get ds some shoes (starting to think this will have to wait until after school one night)
:grinheart get the kids and dh to help around the house
Think that's it - I'm going to be out from about 1030 till 5ish so I'm not going to commit to too much.
