Lego mum sounds as if you have done well from your trip to Tesco's this morning, is their any stock cupboard items you, household bits or toiletries etc you could add to get you up to the minimum order value?

Wow lego mum - you are on a roll - sounds like an awesome day for you! :T

I'm just back from taking the dog a walk - just in time as the rain is now pelting down even though it was sunny when I was just out!

OH is just back from the shops...and he just came back with what he went for! (Must be something strange in the air! :p)
  • Afternoon all. I've had a very lazy day, resulting in the little ones trashing the house :-| oh well! Beginning to feel my energy coming back now.

Sister turned up with lots of goodies. Which now I need to find homes for. She's also bringing me a little tea station thing for the kitchen when she next comes.

  • DNMs another late opinion but I would work. I dont think I could turn down the money!

It is freezing here. I can feel the draught coming through our old kitchen window. We have replaced the windows in the house bit by bit and by the end of Feb they will all be done. I am sure it's going to save money on heating.

Talking of heating my lovely Dad has spent ages chopping some wood up for us so the woodburner is blazing away with free wood. I may have to put the heating on for a bit as well though.

Washing is blowing in the sun. I have had the wm going all day to make the most of this weather. Lasagne made for tea, dog walked, various jobs done around the house.

And Maria a lot of people would be craving designer shoes and handbags, not chickens! Stay strong x

Right, off to bring the washing in and hang some more out.
  • Hey everybody :hello:
Checking in now, because tiredness has caught me up and I predict I might be slobbing on the sofa or in bed for the rest of the evening.... It's cold again too...
Been wondering all day if Maria avoided the chicken sale :easter:

Just made a Shrapnel Curry with things lurking in the freezer:

Put in it lots of tiny portions of leftover veg, four finger sized pieces of chicken and a lonely onion. Served with two forgotten onion bhajis, two of our naan bread mountain and some mango chutney.

The Old Me would've binned most of those leftovers. This feels like free food.

Maria - If you don't have spare money for more chickens, then stop this right now! You sound like how I used to be with vintage fairs, boots & the Clinique counter. Just say no. You know the people who run those 'D.A.R.E' courses in primary schools to empower kids re resisting drugs? That's what you need.....only for resisting chickens! Be strong. (Actually, am jealous. Would love chickens. Have lots of space, but nobody to tend them while we are away......so my strict stance on your chicken buying addiction probably stems from poultry envy.

Thank you Mrs f. , ally and others. Somehow I managed to resist which is a very good thing on many levels. Saved money. Did lots of sheepish otter in g stuff. Showed I can resist sometimes.. With difficulty.
Back to lambing shed. I do not think designer shoes would work in the straw and muck. Perhaps posh socks or thermals, but nothing beats a Rhode Island Red or a black rock! Oh dear.
Am going to do a shopping list for Monday night.

All addiction assistance appreciated, but if I was you I would definitely get lots and lots..of poultry

  • Didn't end up going to work, couldn't get hold of the babysitter. Mmmmm that's twice I haven't been able to... to be honest I could have probably put more effort in but decided to let fate decide...

Had a slight financial blow as after the difficult conversation I had with my boss yesterday he has come back to me and said he can't swap my shift so has now taken me off it and I now have 2 shifts a week instead of 3. This means I will lose £44 a week and will have a shortfall of between £50 & £100 pm. Decided not to worry about it as am confident I can make that up with picking up an extra shift a month if there's sickness or leave/reducing outgoings/msing/ebaying ;)

Has also given me the kick up the bum to actually start looking for a real job again, part time and something that fits better with having a toddler. I have liked having little responsibility while I have been getting back on my feet but I can literally earn at least double going back to my profession and it will be better for us as a family unit if we are all together in the evenings and weekends.

Had one of those great days where you seem to have a lot of extra time in the day :T played loads with little lady, got loads of jobs done around the house, went to the wildlife park for an hour with lo and saw lots of animals. Weather here is crisp but quite nice, sun is out.

Came home and had the Moroccan stew with a little lo rice from yesterday. It was delish and there is enough there for lunch tomorrow and dinner on Monday :T

And also very virtuously I decided again buying a bottle of wine and have a couple of Amerettos which is lo from the Christmas gifts. So managed a NSD as well :D

Also, you have reminded me that there is a bottle of amaretto (not the real stuff - @ldi own brand) downstairs from crimbo! My Saturday night has just got a little bit better.
