how can they be "live" movies , are they showing live footage from a film set?

    define "live" movies?

Good grief you don't think Casualty is live from the hospital when it is shown on the BBC do you........
Live means what the particular channel is transmitting at that time.

OP Now have several movie channels on their movie pass and several entertainment channels on their entertainment pass. You need a licence to watch any of these. You do not need a licence to watch the on demand content. I would however think it is difficult for you to argue you don't watch those if they are available.
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

    Yes, that's the issue.

Oh well, it was an idea anyway...

That's an interesting thought about blocking via the router, hmmmm, but it's probably easier to just go to Netflix or Amazon.

I'm not familiar with either Netflix or Amazon (is this Amazon prime tv?) - does the above mean they don't have any live shows? Have no license and just received a TV from a neighbour but me and my flatmate don't want to subscribe to Sky, it's £79 installation plus £20 more to the broadband package monthly plus license fee but if there was a possibility of some low cost movie watching we would be okay with that.

It's about whether you will WATCH LIVE TV - as in while it's broadcast. Netflix and Amazon Prime TV is all on demand so those alone don't need it. But if you watch a live stream on iPlayer, for example, you DO need a Licence.
