Does Now TV mean you need a TV licence?

Options
I was looking over the movies on Now TV and it includes an item "Live movies".

Does that mean you need a TV licence?

Live as in concurrent with the time they are being broadcast on the given Sky channel.

    (Obviously not a live event!)

You just need a TV license full stop.
If you don't want to pay, then don't.
However, don't look to avoid payment on a technicality.

Can you explain the "full stop" bit, please?

You do not need a TV licence if you only watch on demand.

What you refer to as "a technicality" is the fact of the law.

I guess Now TV isn't a means of doing away with the licence then.

I only spotted it after a recent update; I'm sure it wasn't there before.

The question posed is whether you need a license to view NowTV , not simply On Demand. So the answer is that to view Now TV a license is required -full stop. :p

I havent used on of these but forgetting this one Movie channel doesnt Now TV include the live feeds for lots of Sky channels? Sky 1, Atlantic, Living, Discovery........

Or are you just getting the Movie pack?
If so and this is the only "live" feed you should be able to block that feed via your router leaving only on demand or catchup TV.

Then be legally licence free if you were concerned.

Exactly. NowTV is live streaming of many Sky TV channels. The movie channels are streamed directly from the broadcast channel as well.

You have to pay to view the three options: (a) Entertainment, (b) Sports, (c) Movies. You can either pay by subscription or buy a pass for a period (eg. couple of months of movies).

The movies includes both the "live" ones and on-demand ones which aren't streamed from the broadcast movie channels; however, they are in the same pack, so you can't split them out.

That's an interesting thought about blocking via the router, hmmmm, but it's probably easier to just go to Netflix or Amazon.
