Hi FW you are doing amazing in trying to bring your OH onto the same page and hope the rubbish news on the house turns out some how to be a silver lining - wee word of caution though be careful of the "earning more will get us out of this" trap - OH and I are earning probably close to 30% more than we were during my first lightbulb moment but our debt has increased by 20% as you get complacent about the amount of debt you can manage and still have a decent amount of disposable income month to month - I have now learned it's not what I earn but what I spend that will get me out of this - extra cash in is great and an opportunity to get DF quicker but don't make that your silver bullet ....CC debt Aug 2018 £50.2K
CC debt Nov 2018 £48.6K0 -
Thanks scotdebs - I am sure it is you who gave me these words of wisdom before and I have taken them on board. I will never spend without close monitoring - I feel like a different person in this respect and really intend to make it a permanent change. However, if we are going to get a house one day we really need to step up the gas on the earning potential as well. However, I am so determined to pay off our debts and save and so intend to monitor all our earnings. I am thinking that I will put my work earnings towards simply debt repayment and then hopefully savings. Thank you for your reminder though - it is always interesting to hear from people who have real experience of something.
I'm tired. There just seems to be so much more to do now. My Facebook page is going well but now I need to get some work. If I haven't got any clients by next month please feel free to tell me I am hopeless!!!!0 -
Accountant and hubby said it would near impossible to move due to credit etc.

Glad you feeling a bit more positive, amazing what a little bit of chocolate can do! Says she who has given up everything with refined sugar in it for Lent:eek:A smile costs little but creates much0

Morning!!!! Yes, get more - he still says we have no idea of whether or not we will be accepted. It may be that we do get accepted but only for a price of £1400 e.g.. We won't know until we try - it will be interesting times if we only get offered a price which doesn't include any houses around here!!0

There is usually an affordability criteria. Because you don't work and your partner is a contractor he will need to prove income for a reasonable amount of time. I just went through the same thing myself, my business was too young to be considered so we had to pay 3 months rent in advance, very frustrating.
You won't be financially checked more than a quick public records check to see if you have any CCJs. But you will need to provide proof of income.
We had to prove £43,500 income (pre-tax) for a rental of £1450pcm. I'm sure the metrics are different everywhere but there is a rough estimate for you. Based on that you need £30 of annual income per £1 of rent. So for a £1700pcm rental it would be £51k.0 -
Have you had a why from the letting agent or landlord.
If the letting agent has gven notice check withthe landlord, not unknown for LA to go for a change to make some money, especialy if you have gone periodic.0 -
They're moving back in getmore - I knew it was on the cards.
Just booked kids in for haircuts for £9 and oldest one at £12. Happy with that. We usually pay about £25 for the older ones. Haven't booked in OH - they've just quoted £45 and I can't justify that. Going to try out this new place with the kids and then get him checked in for £31. Even better, I might have a go myself.0 -

Only if you find somewhere else in time.0 -
Surely if we go down that road getmore, we get blacklisted with all agents, marks on our backgrounds? We've always been squeaky clean and I wouldn't want to change that.0
