Hi FT, sorry to hear you need to move. How would you have dealt with this had the letter arrived a month ago, before you made so many changes? There is a house waiting for you out there, and another for you to buy in the next 3 years, when all the debt is gone. Keep your spirits up and keep up the good work, M2m.Frugal Living Challenge 2025.0

Thank you and even more, thank you for not calling me crazy. I really need to believe we can do this, and to help convince OH we can do this too!!!!!!0

If it is s21 notice that's just to say they will take you court if you don't leave it can take months to get you out.
If you don't find something you can move to in 8weeks you can just pay another months rent and stay.
Go to the renting board they have people that can walk through the legalities.0 -
Car :You drove 3hr when there was one local to see first.
Does hubby get paid for these days he is off looking at cars?0 -
Thanks for that Getmore. It shouldn't have taken 3 hours; it was only 30 minutes away. We got lost and spent an hour retracing our route (no satellite signal). OH refused to ask at the garage we passed until we passed it again 40 minutes later!! And yes, he does get paid; he was 'working from home' - he's now gone in and will be working later. He never takes time off but has a very good deal where he is!0

I've just moved myself. I found that the houses you want are the ones that don't usually end up on the website. Give all your local agents a call and say what you want and get them to call you as soon as something comes in.0

Just wanted to stop lurking and say well done so far!
I have read from the start but didn't have any advice except what has already been stated.
When you really look at the figures re the mortgage this is the route too go asap. Your rent , the interest on the cards and the car only amount to the same outgoings , it's just the deposit too find..
However by owning you gain so much more in the future.
I think you really need to get the cards at 0 percent .
Positive thinking and keep up the good work.0 -
Thank you. Feeling incredibly fired up. Just had a very productive conversation and we are getting onto the same page. I do agree we need to earn a lot more and that's entirely possible. He now just needs to accept that we also need to monitor our spending closely and reduce it. I can see what he means about bringing in more being the potential life-changer; we are not going to be able to save for a deposit just by changing our bills and outgoings alone. However, I think the most important thing in this area is to develop a healthy respect for our money and spend it wisely. To date we have just spent with no tracking.
I think the title of my diary is going to be more accurate than originally perceived. 2016 is going to be a year of metamorphosis for us both. This year we are changing cars; house, spending far less, budgeting closely, me working most days, OH has a big change of direction planned in his career. Plus we will have to be back in the same bedroom as there will no longer be a spare room! So fired up.0 -

:rotfl: Have to say, I'm not so keen. My little man is far more cuddly and doesn't snore. However, I know it's not healthy and it's probably even less healthy now that our relationship is going to be tested to the hilt.
Typed that all one-handed; siting here eating a magnum (Lidl's version). My diet has gone out the window today - something had to go what with it being half term, getting notice on the house and losing most of our flight points!0
