Wanted to ask other members thoughts of using an epilator. Bought a Braun one with good reviews from T, reduced to £19 but still plucking up the courage to try. Any tips in advance please? :o

Take a few painkillers, have a glass of wine and a good long soak in a hot bath before you even think about using it and it takes the edge off!
  • My goal is to use up 6 items in February. Fingers crossed!

Gosh I NEED this thread - my guilty secret is I used to over buy toiletries to such an extent that sometimes I had to stash some behind the bath pannel to stop OH freaking out. I have stopped doing that but still buy to much - so can I join you guys? have a bit of a bumper haul after Christmas so no need really to buy anything. If i am doing this right:

    My PP:

    1. Shower Gels (loads with a bit in the bottom)

    Welcome misfire. X

Have posted my totals on the January thread so am going to post my PP list and 6 by Spring list here:-

    PP left from Jan :-
    Clynol leave in conditioner
    OPI Bubble Bath mini
    Vichy eye cream
    Hawaiian Tropic face cream

    New for Feb:-
    LUSH Christingle
    LE Eyebright
    LUSH Cup of Coffee
    Johnsons face cream
    Frizz Ease intensive hair conditioner
    TBS 3 in 1 mask

I've earmarked the following products because I am lax at using them : Clynol leave in conditioner and Vichy eye cream, the following products because I don't love them : LUSH Christingle and Johnsons face cream and the rest because they have been open a while.

I have other products that I will get through as they are every day items: LE C&P, IBST, Elemis PCMC, Philosophy Pumpkin Icing shower gel. Of these I will only need to purchase C&P.

I will have a look at my perfume collection and choose the one with the least amount in to use this month. Have been using Daisy since my other perfume UUs last month but it's in a black bottle and I can't see how much is left. A bit fed up of it too so will put it away again.

My 6 by Spring list :-
Clinique lash power (does feel like it is now coming to an end) & Benefit Roller Lash
Highlighters : no 7 (not much left in pit) & Seventeen
Virgin and Sin colours from MUA palette (think Sin has gone down a little
Cargo and Benefit Dallas blushers. The Cargo one must end soon. I'm even using it as eyeshadow now.

I have two other make up items that have hit pan : Laura Geller BnB and Benefit Boing concealer but from past experience these products could still last another month.

    Welcome misfire.

assett - I have an epilator but only managed two attempts it was just too painful. Maybe it will be better with evilsquid's suggestion.

momobingu - I too have more eyeshadow than I will ever be able to use but still keep buying it.

VALM - I hit pan on my No7 face powder ages ago and despite using it every day that pan doesn't seem to change so I feel your pain with your blusher.

Re: epilators. I have one and have used it for years, but it seems to be one those items that isn't for everyone. You do get used to the pain, or at least I have, and I don't really notice it anymore.

It's less painful to use after you've had a shower or a bath.
I will only use it on my legs, arms and armpit, and it is definitely more painful on my armpits. I couldn't use it on my bikini line
Be aware that around your time of the month you can be more sensitive to pain, I don't use it around my TOTM
It's less painful if you use it regularly and don't let the hairs get too long. The longer the hairs the more painful I find it.

Hope that's of some use to you! :)

I tried an epilator once and like others have said did not enjoy the experience. That being said though I put it down to the fact that the one I used was a very old model that I inherited from my MIL. I remember it was really noisy and the blades looked like the oversized ones used by magicians to saw people in half! It was really painful to use. I know my MIL had used it only once due to the pain. I thought maybe now that technology had moved on the process would be less painful but maybe not.

Thanks for the new thread. I'm pleased I used up 10 items in January but none of them were makeup and it's my makeup stash that is really too big at the minute. I can't decide on the best strategy to start using it up. Should I, for example, choose one lipstick I want to finish and just wear it every day until it's gone or should I wear different things each day until they wear down? What do other people do?
    My 6 for spring are:
    L'Or!al true match pressed powder
Clinique buttershine lipstick in Berry Blush
    No7 lovely lashes mascara
MAC eyeshadow in All That Glitters
    MAC blusher in Well Dressed
    Crazy Rumors Amaretto lip balm

The powder, eyeshadow and blusher are all showing pan. The blusher looks like it has the thinnest ring ever around the edge but it never seems to go down now!
Other than that, any toiletry/skincare bits are a bonus. I'm aiming to get toiletries and skincare down to a one in, one out system. I think I need to decide on reasonable amounts to own for makeup because I do like to have a choice of shades.
