Managed to get a few extra things done. I'm on a roll!
* Timed my shower so I'd done the housework and had a run before having it. Might as well be filthy before I invest in some water.
* Cleaned out the fridge with Stardrops to prevent food spoiling.
* Ditto microwave.
* Homemade luxury coffee.
* Lunch was long-forgotten kebabs from the freezer.
* Took chicken out to defrost sans microwave for tonight's homemade KFC. Newbies might be interested in borrowing this book from the library. (Link) Our KFC recipe is simple:
Cut chicken into pieces.
Dip each piece in flour and then in egg.
Take some Ruskoline (Link) or some homemade breadcrumbs and add to this paprika, chilli and black pepper and anything else you fancy. Dip pieces in this spicy crumb.
Fry or grill.
I see a link on FB that had homemade KFC chicken using crushed Dorito crisps! Looked yummy!DMP Started June 20160 -

Might just set up a ss page and each time I spend any money put it in my bank acc and then just pay one payment when it's due. Might be easier & then will get a miniscule bit of interest on it as well
I use my CC a lot to get the loyalty points. When I come home, before I sit down, I chuck the receipts on top of my laptop and at the end of every day I put those amounts into my Finances Spreadsheet. Then on Sundays I pay off every last penny spent on the CC so no interest is accrued.
I couldn't get on with YNAB, though I know loadsa folk find it fabulous. I couldn't manage without my spreadsheet.

Thanks La E & ally! La E not sure about YNAB because 1. I don't know what my income will be each month, depends on how many shifts at the pub, how many weekends in a month I work at job 2 and how many ms assignments I pick up. Think it'll be hard work... If you think it can handle this let me know and I'll investigate...
The thing that is complicated is some of it is my personal spends which I've been paying off as I spend - opps but sometimes I forget! Not really a problem as it's low cost- work 1 expenses, which I pay off once I get the money back (same day), work 2 expenses within a couple of weeks but no real procedure, items for dgd which I pay monthly and monthly food/household costs which I pay off monthly. But this means some of the payments are on the statement, some on the current page (statement not issued yet) and it's been a headache the last 2 months.
Definitely thinking scoot it all over into my savings account and having a ss that tallies it up & pay on the due dateDF as at 30/12/16

And now I've made it to the weekend :j
I'm on the sofa in my fleecy poncho and almost asleep - just need to stay awake for Mr A to bring the big shop in the next 3 hours...
DNMS - I reckon YNAB would be fine with the variable income - I find it very useful and being a complete numpty with budgeting and finance it must be straightforward if I can use it.

Still raining !! Had a horrible day in work. All clients miserable. Weather miserable. Animals miserable.
Great day for the Murray tennis fans. And no rain In Australia!!
Would it be frugal to buy a ticket????
Ok maybe not but some dry would be lovely for our ground and animals.
Off to sleep now to dream of my ark, or yacht, even a canoe would be useful.
Night all. Maria0 -
Hi all
Havent done my spreadsheets this week, hate that niggly feeling that I might not be on track. First job tomorrow.
Have just picked DS2 up from work. One of the chefs does nothing but moan at him. DS is 15 and still learning, this bloke is mid 50s and I think he should know better. Just hope this doesnt put DS off the idea of working!
Drinking wine (left from Christmas) and eating crisps (Li*dl own of course). Looking forward to a relaxing weekend!0 -
Morning all, thanks for starting us off Ally. I did see the thread when I was back last night before I went to bed, but I was too tired to think what I was going to do today
My list (repetitive but boy is it keeping me on track):
Banking and update sheet, automatic payment to cc today, love that feeling of it going down. Also received some expenses I'd forgot aboutguess where they'll be going later
Surveys and FPL, DH doing postal one for me as I'm at work
Tea from planner, packed lunch to work, hot drink in car for commute
Quick tidy round before I leave for work
Realised all things left on January list were calling people (maybe there is a theme here :rotfl:) will and try and do at least 1 at work today, but it's pretty relentless when I'm there so I may have to defer them, world won't stop if I do
Early night
Double check next periods budget (don't get paid til next Friday and my budget runs pay day to payday) but I want to make sure I'm squared away and make a target of how much debt to pay off in Feb
Have a good day everyone, stay safe.
Jonno X
Just checking back to see where I'm at. Managed 2 calls on my January list. Took about 3 minutes between them :rotfl:
Moved 3 things to Feb list, although I've already done one other thing on Feb list, hubby is working on a tedious one, so all in all I'm very happy with that.
Also paid water bill that arrived today, so nice having put 1/12 away each month I can just pay it straight away :A
Looking a spreadsheet, have tiny amount to get to very very reasonable figure paid down in Jan, will see if I can muster it before sun with some pads. I know it was severely helped by o/t and tax rebate, but I really can't wait for these to be paid off so all our pennies our ours each month
Hope everyone is safe, warm, dry and with leccy, J X0 -
Decided to go Late Night Freezer Diving. Is that an extreme sport?
* Removed lots of ice. Turned down thermostat one notch.
* Consolidated like-with-like so OH doesn't buy stuff we don't need when she sees one of the numerous nearly-empty bags and thinks we're nearly out of whatever it is.
* Tomorrow we'll have curry made with shrapnel veg findings and we'll eat up some of the TEN naan bread lurking in there. OH got them free.
* We'll also polish off three sad looking burgers for lunch tomorrow. Cover them in chilli sauce probably.
We tend to plan meals a day ahead based on how we both feel and what's available. I know planning weekly is a better idea but we don't seem to be wasting anything so this is ok for us. There's some weekly food plans here. (Link)
