Friday 28th January - What Small DFW-Style Things Will You Be Doing Today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important. :money:

    Morning all,

Greetings from inside Storm Gertrude. The lights are flickering. It's like the fairground Haunted House in here.

I'm in still gradually moving my body-clock from Nocturnal to Diurnal, so tonight I'm aiming to be asleep by 03:00. Might as well make myself useful until then.

Spent the evening going through my Finances Spreadsheet with a fine tooth comb to get the full picture. I think we're all ok. Also submitted meter readings as bill is due soon. Also chased up missing Quidco payment and querying non-functioning discount code. And I cleared out my emails. and paid the rent early.

Still de-guddling. The plan is to:

    * Do the housework with Stardrops and washable cloths. Done.

    * Clean inside of the car. Nope.

    * Turn iron off for last two items. Done.

    * Temporarily decommission my work bag. Very important to unpack it as there are important things in then. Done.

    * Finish OH's tax stuff. Done.

    * Print today's payslip. Done.

    * Finish making the Big Get Back On Track Plan. Getting there.

    * Go for a run regardless of the weather. Done.

    * Dinner will be homemade KFC and rice. Done.

What have you folks got lined up for today?

Yesterday I wrote my list but failed to post it

I'll try and pop back later with my list, either way I will be keeping the faith. It is very wet and windy here, doubt I will be able to convince OH we should walk to the HE session today :( if we walk I think we should all take spare clothes. When we get home I am looking forward to cocoa in front of the fire, which will be burning free wood of course :D

  • Morning all, thanks for starting us off Ally. I did see the thread when I was back last night before I went to bed, but I was too tired to think what I was going to do today ;)

My list (repetitive but boy is it keeping me on track):
Banking and update sheet, automatic payment to cc today, love that feeling of it going down. Also received some expenses I'd forgot about :D guess where they'll be going later
Surveys and FPL, DH doing postal one for me as I'm at work
Tea from planner, packed lunch to work, hot drink in car for commute
Quick tidy round before I leave for work
Realised all things left on January list were calling people (maybe there is a theme here :rotfl:) will and try and do at least 1 at work today, but it's pretty relentless when I'm there so I may have to defer them, world won't stop if I do
    Early night
Double check next periods budget (don't get paid til next Friday and my budget runs pay day to payday) but I want to make sure I'm squared away and make a target of how much debt to pay off in Feb

Have a good day everyone, stay safe.

Oh dear it is still raining. All animals run down and grim.
All machines have been on cheap rate. Am now delambed clean and ready for a day at the office. It is Friday!!!
Farm work is backing up and ds2 has been on 3 hours a night for 10 days. Time for some cosseting I think . He has a madly busy day and no sign of respite for 4 months, time to stop his milking job I think.
Here is hoping for it to stop raining. Poor animals and shepherds. We have spent more on feed than ever before and still the breeding stock look run down.
Should be a nsd for me.
