Vauxhall Corsa Mis-sell

Why would you assume that when iPhones are known to do everything in their power to lock you into proprietary Apple accessories by inventing their own standards?
Non-disclosure isn't mis-selling if the car does as advertised - work according to the bluetooth standard . Otherwise it'd be mis-selling a CD player if you didn't warn that it couldn't play a vinyl L.P!
If you'd specified that you used an iPhone and they said it'd work then that would be mis-selling. As it stands you probably have more of a mis-selling claim against Apple than you do against Vauxhall.
Incidentally, was it by any chance posting on your non-standards-following iPhone that's screwed up the line formatting on this thread?0 -
A two-minute google finds this phone compatibility list.

So, from firmware 7.0.3, your phone should be supported, with a minor known issue. What version of firmware is installed in your car?
The list is giving the version of phone firmware rewired, not the firmware for the car. Updating the phone really isn't theirs dealer's responsibility

Sorry, you are of course correct.Joe_Horner wrote: »The list is giving the version of phone firmware rewired, not the firmware for the car. Updating the phone really isn't theirs dealer's responsibility
OP - what version of the firmware is on YOUR PHONE?0 -
Having used iPhones extensively with every car I've owned / hired / leased including aftermarket stereos for the last 5-6 years without a hitch, I didn't actually know this. But thanks for the heads up.Nodding_Donkey wrote: »I phones don't do Bluetooth properly. It's well known.0 -

If you do a quick search for iPhone Bluetooth compatibility there are well known issues faced by a lot of people.
Most of them are fairly easily sorted by, for example, making sure you phone's up to date - they are a bit MS-like in their "release now and patch later" approach to bugs - but that, of course, is dependent on you looking for a solution rather than looking for the first person to sue!0 -

My daughter's iPhone is the only one that doesn't work in my car, the other 4 phones we have in our household connect without any issues.0 -
The bluetooth stack is the issue with iphones / ipads to keep it locked down. Try and get a gamepad working properly on a non jailbroken device for example, whereas it is just plug and play on android.0

Think we should all go back to the year 2000 - when you drive a car and made telephone calls on your mobile.0

Although not at the same time of course in 2016 (unless you can get the Bluetooth to connect

I did watch an old top gear episode a few days ago with a very young Jeremy Clarkson chatting away into a old class 2 handset built into a Jag or similar.foxy-stoat wrote: »Think we should all go back to the year 2000 - when you drive a car and made telephone calls on your mobile.
Brought back fond memories of me and a few school chums scanning the 890-960 whatever it was FM band to listen into phone conversations of all the cars driving up the motorway.
Oh those were the days...
