I got that offer too but didn't use it as didn't get time so i was really relieved to get this one. I had a link to click to accept it when logged in ebay into selling part so double check you've definitely not got one too

Well done on getting some listings up though. Steady flow does the job :)

Glad not just me that didn't get credit card retention offer then!
  • I closed an open Bank of Scotland and Capital One end of last year (I have also noticed I have an open Vanquis with £12.00 credit that I need transferred to me) and I spent a fortune on interest over many years and they offered me nothing either! Great news on you closing down 2 cards! :T:j:beer:

I hope your little one is feeling better and you're able to get on with some things, I'm sure you will get there in the end - children accumulate so much stuff that always seems to be everywhere, especially babies!

Lol you as well then? Must be just barclaycard that actually value keeping existing customers!

Thanks she's all better now after a draining week. House now getting blitzed then next week I'll have enough head space to list another big batch of eBay stuff as have about 20 things listed at the mo

That's fab you found £12 credit. Like finding a tenner in your pocket that you forgot about!

Yay my efforts are gradually paying off. Clearscore result has improved slightly and that's without the figures being fully up to date. It's still showing me as owing almost £2k to barclaycard when in fact I have 0 balance with them. It also shows me as having access to another £4k credit as the two santander ones I closed are still on there. I've also just rung and had a 6p balance written off on Opus card and they've closed that.

This means I now 'just' have four credit cards -
    MBNA just under £13k
    M&S £5500
Tesco £0 (saving to keep flexibility for moving MBNA money when deal runs out in Dec so I possibly negotiate another deal)
Barclaycard £0 (again saving for possible future BT options)

Feels great to only have 2 cards with balances on which makes payments very straightforward.

Mbna has just under 2k on standard rate whereas M&S is totally 0% for another 18 months so I'm chucking any spare cash at MBNA.

The day started quite badly but has improved somewhat now. Just waiting on HMRC to call though and set up payment plan for £357 tax underpayment as my employer appears to have used wrong tax code and caused a debt there :( have to admit this has been a real kick in the teeth but I guess at least it's not a higher underpayment

Oh no blinking tax man. Don't they just change your tax code for next year?
Why keep them open for deals when you get better deals as a new customer?
Keep it up note! You're doing great xxx

I'm off on maternity at the mo so I won't earn enough to be taxed from what they said on the phone so I have to pay it directly instead :(

I applied for a virgin card about 4 months ago (to do a 0% deal) and was declined which shocked me as it's the first time I've been declined for a credit card. I'm guessing it's because they looked at the amount of debt I have and that I still had a load available in the cards I had and thought hell no! In truth that's made me worried to close those two as if I can't get accepted for another then I'll be stuck paying the full MBNA amount at 18.9% which will mean huge huge interest payments. Hard to know what to do really as shutting them could help or not.

Ugh I know! Only one thing for it - pay them off!! Haha would be nice wouldn't it.
You say that - they've amended my tax code like four years in row for tax and I never earn enough. I'm dreading them asking for my tax credits back :(

Don't even go there with tax credits...I'm repaying £2k in overpayments and wish I'd appealed as I'm not convinced I should be but I missed the deadline to appeal

I'm really getting into the march declutter challenge. Gonna exceed this month's goal at current rate. Definitely going to continue in April. I look round my house and there's stuff everywhere still but keeping track on here is keeping me going as eventually it'll show physically too. It's encouraging me to keep ebaying too which is a mission but pays

I've just received first survey payout so gonna transfer that to credit card
  • Tax credits must only hire incompetent staff, I am convinced it must be in the job description! They always messed mine up and friends, no matter what information you give them! £357 is a lot to expect you to pay out the blue in one lump sum.

That's good about the survey paying out, I should look into it..something to do when I watch TV - I don't really watch anything intellectual and I am sure I can multi task while watching The Real Housewives of Atlanta lol

Just noticed the declutter challenge, is it get rid of one thing a day all month?
