Rangemaster cooker - which variant?

Do white good manufacturers operate in a different commercial world to the rest of the manufacturing world?
Put forward your expertise and tell me why my figures dont stack up.
I dont recommend any range cookers at all just to be clear.0 -
Hmm interesting. Prices of all inputs materials and labour have gone up. Output price stays the same. Wonder what gives? Common sense tells me quality. But clearly I am not the expert here. We’ve had to remove your signature. I can't really comment on cookers but in my industry technology has bought down labour costs and increased output without comprimising quality.
A good example are CNC manchines they can do a specific job so much quicker than before. A small company in Kent invested in a machine that runs 24hrs a day and it will produce a complete timber window in 7 minutes.
That includes tenon cutting, morticeing, moulding ,beads everything apart from glueing up,sanding and glazing. There are limits in that its restricted to making a few different profiles but even so thats phenomenal output. I can't see any reason for quality to drop in this instance.
We are small scale but even so we have machines that save hours of work compared to 20yrs ago .
You can have a "mini Ryder 72" carved out of wood and all finished in less than 20 minutes. It would take a good woodcarver hours to do the same.0 -
leveller2911 - I would agree with you to a point. Yes efficient machinery and manufacturing techniques have aided in making products cheaper to produce. But if you allow a 3% inflation in material & labour costs, that alone points to more than a doubling of the cost of the product over 20 years. The consider that the price of the same cooker has come down over 20 years indicates that it simply cannot be that quality somewhere along the line hasnt been compromised.
A good case in point is the washing machine. Most makes of washing machines today cost roughly what it cost 25 years ago. I know this for a fact that Miele today is the only domestic manufacturer left that used cast iron bases whereas the number was a lot higher 25 years ago. Many manufacturers have moved away to concrete bases to reduce costs and longevity has come down. I know Bosch uses concrete bases now and they used to do cast iron bases but dropped it a while back. We’ve had to remove your signature. Thank you for sharing with us that they now have 3 peices of glass in the doors, be honest about it though, this is only a recent thing. For around 2 decades they only had 2 peices of glass in the doors which made them incredibly hot on the outside. It should have been made with 3 peices in the first place, and the only reason why RM have done it now is so they can get an A energy rating, not because they want to produce a good product or care about the wellbeing or expenditure for their customers.
Also have you properly looked at the link you put on to 'the seven WONDERS of Rangemaster' what a load of marketing BS! Any manufacturer that has to talk about its award winning packaging as being one of its 'seven wonders' - well, simply amazing!

Dont forget they have started inspecting their product before shipping it

Triple glazing has been around on Rangemasters now for over 10 years, and even with the two pieces of glass prior to that they may have felt hot to the touch but you would find that again you could easily hold your hand on the glass without fear of burning and still would only reach around 50c, modern ones average 30-35c.0 -

You know what, the best way to cut costs is improving the appliance... why ?
Because it cuts your service costs as the machine is more reliable, this is why Rangemaster use very strong frames, use good quality components (fans, switches etc.).
Also the range is built around using similar/same components to keep prices down too with the power of bulk purchasing..0 -

OK I give up, I am totally wrong and my 25 years + in the industry has taught me absolutely nothing, I was completely wrong working for John Lewis for years and actually have completely wasted my life! When all I should have done was ask you! Thank goodness you have come along to save us all!!
I bow down to your amazingly superior knowledge and beg forgiveness for being such an idiot. In actual fact I think I should get in touch with all my customers that I have sold Miele ovens and Lacanche cookers to over the years and replace them for Rangemasters free of charge for them!
What do you think?
Good luck with this thread, I shall not be adding any more comments to it as I am ashamed about all the comments I have made on this forum and will now pursue a life like a monk and take a vow of silence (only after replacing all the products I have completely miss sold).
Please forgive me everyone!

Hey Ryder72, you should be completely ashamed of your existence to and should change your life like I am.0
