    Was he a freelance self-employed taxi-driver, insuring it in his own personal name, or was it insured as a separate legal entity "J Bloggs Taxis" ?
    It's surely the individual's insurance history that counts, not that of the vehicle?

    So all he had was a 2-year gap in private car insurance, which may possibly preserve the NCD with the right insurer?
