There is a difference between commercial insurance and individual insurance.

  • Yes, so the problem is that the taxi company haven't taken into account the amount of years he had as it's a separate type of insurance. So now he has 32 years and a separate 2 years. The best chance of you being able to use the 32 years is to look back on bank statements to find who he last had his private insurance with and give them a call to see if they can help.

He's done that, given the evidence to the new insurers and now they have back tracked and say they can't accept it. He spent a day on the phone tracking it all down, so he has it all. Maybe if he finds a different company they'll accept it. He has no time, in work all day, and they won't speak to me about it as I'm not the policy holder.
    Shine on you crazy diamond..............
  • Try Co-op, I've heard they accept no claims up to 3 years. Definitely need to check this first though.

I haven't a clue...I just know he has had a license 32 years and never claimed. Is it the change of use that is the problem?

That isn't necessarily 32 years no claims discount!

If he does actually hold proof of 32 years NCD we would all be interested to know which insurer issued the proof!

If he has his NCD proof from 2 years ago (eg the renewal notice he got when his car policy ended) then he may well be able to use it (irrespective of how many years it says - which will be 5 to 32 assuming he held a policy continuously) with almost any insurer.

If it's past the 2 year anniversary, then try a local broker if co-op is unacceptable as an insurer.

Was just sympathising until you mentioned Everton!! Hope to see them in an all Merseyside final.

    Good luck with the insurance

Have you gone back to the last insurer of the private car and ask if they will resurrect the no claims bonus for him ?

    Yes definitely try co-op.
They get so many mentions on here because they accept 3 year old NCB
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
