32 years no claims bonus lost because car used as a taxi for 2 years?

My partner has 32 years no claims, he went on private hire taxis using his own car for 2 years, he came off them a couple of weeks ago, and the insurers will now only give him 2 years no claims. Can anybody explain why? The insurers agreed to give him the full no claims, but have now changed their minds and want a further £300 or will invalidate the insurance. Can anyone help please?

I am going to take a punt here
private car insurance policy running with 32 years no claims
new taxi policy opened running for 2 years
new private car insurance policy required but as last private car policy over 2 years old, the ncd cannot be used0 -
I was thinking the same, change of use maybe invalidated the previous years, but it doesn't seem fair.Shine on you crazy diamond..............0

Fairness doesn't enter into the equation where motor insurance is concerned. It's just another example of insurance fraud.0 -

Check if his previous insurers on his private car will use the 32 years originally earned. They may do as it hasn't been used on the taxi policy. Also, some companies accept a gap in cover for up to 3 years if you go back to them.0

He is more annoyed the fact they said yes, he spent a day on the phone contacting previous companies, got the evidence for them, now they are changing their mind after saying it was fine and they would accept it. £300 is a lot of money to find on top of the insurance, you would think no matter where he went 32 years with no claim in whatever capacity would count. He has never claimed for anythingShine on you crazy diamond..............0

Does anybody by any chance know of any insurers who will accept a 3 year break then?Shine on you crazy diamond..............0

I used to work for Direct Line and Churchill, if you were going back to them they would accept it for three years but only the 32 years was last with them.
They can have 32 years claim free but most companies have a maximum amount they will record, 9 years is quite standard.0 -

I haven't a clue...I just know he has had a license 32 years and never claimed. Is it the change of use that is the problem?Shine on you crazy diamond..............0
