  • The weekend is here and time to catch up again!

I'm feeling like we should have a bit of a rest this weekend, if possible.

Popped out to the local farm shop for horse feed and found some different produce type things from local businesses, so got a few for xmas presents.

Mil had won a xmas tree and said we could have it as she already has one, so that's an unexpected saving. It should come during next week.

The clothes recycling has been collected, so that's out of the house and should be a few pennies once processed.

During the decluttering marathon we are currently on we have found a couple of bottles of champagne. I find it a bit dry to drink but it feels a bit wasteful to throw it away. I think I need to research what else I could use it for.

Re-gift it? Or if you have any flavoured vodka/ fruity liqueurs drink it with some of that in? Make Bellinis? (yum!) - that sweetens up champagne wonderfully! :) Or make champagne & strawberry jam?

open it, let it go flat and use it in cooking instead of white wine (Ive done this with leftover prosecco so cant see why champagne wouldn't work) - freeze in small tubs/ ice cube trays if necessary?

  • Some great ideas, thank you greent :) I think I might mix it with something fruity then use any leftovers to cook with in place of white wine.

Not sure what is planned for today yet, I will cross something off my to-do list though!
  • Only 2 weeks left until Christmas Eve, this month is going even faster than the rest of the year.

Still plodding along chipping away at getting the house ready to sell and still waiting for the field purchase to go through.

DD2 left the fridge door open one night this week and the light effectively cooked the stuff on the top shelves. Typically a few days after a food shop had been delivered, grrrr.

Sil and niece have gone to the winter wonderland, saw an aerial picture of it on FB and it looks amazing. I might like to take DGS in a couple years when he is a bit older.

As usual a huge list of things to get done this weekend and we are not here tomorrow, so I had better crack on!

    Have a great weekend :)

Oh Blackberry liquor tastes amazing with any fizzy wine stuffs! One of my favourites, I made some last year but also Ald* sells a really yummy one as well! Tastes fancy!

Boo about the fridge, that seems crazy that the light would do that! How annoying! It is crazy how quickly Christmas is rolling in!

Oh if you do put a bow on the gate, could you share a picture? I love the image!

Best of luck with your list this weekend!

  • Absolutely shattered after the weekend - aren't they for resting?!
We were on the go all day Saturday, didn't sit down at all, which was really good for my step count.

Mostly catching up with house stuff, running round after DD2 and sorting the animals while hubby cracked on with the house.

Our boiler is broken, it's been a bit dodgy for a few weeks and the plumber was ordering a part but it has now given up completely :(

eeeek about boiler. Luckily it is mild here - hope it is with you - and hope part arrives soon.
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!
  • Yes it is mild here too, although I am a bit of a wimp! I should be hardier being outside so much.

The boiler is all fixed :T
Hot water and heating again. Turned into a bit of a fiasco, but in the end booked an engineer from boiler manufacturer to do a fixed price repair, it needed 3 parts, the parts alone came to more than double the price of the repair, so a bit of a result as it could have been a lot worse.

Just finishing a few bits for Christmas, working out how to fit getting round to visit everyone etc. Got to get a present for my mum and as we are not seeing her until the 30th trying to decide whether to risk getting hers in the sales. I'm a bit risk averse, so might buckle and get it sooner!!

Still waiting for the solicitors to sort out field purchase....I hope it will go through soon.
  • It looks like the field won't go through until the new year now as there are a couple of queries that our solicitor would like answers for. Not a problem as there is no rush for us.

I think most of this week I will be working and painting, the spare room should be completely plastered today. We are not taking on any more new work now until next year, although I have a full week booked next week on our big contract which shows no sign of stopping soon. Hubby also has a few bits to catch up on and clear but should be able to spend a lot of next week decorating.

I've ordered vouchers for B&Q from CP, so that should help with some of the decorating costs. Although will also need things like carpet and a wardrobe. Hopefully we will get lucky in the sales!

Also used some t3sco vouchers on a few top up bits yesterday.

I have a big shop booked for Friday, I will be ordering stuff for family meals over the holidays, so could be quite expensive, whatever is left in my account after that I should be able to shuffle over to savings.
  • You are buying some land? Exciting! How many acres?
