So, it's been a week and there's been no further letters from PCM or Debt Recovery, after the PCM letter saying the appeal was ignored because it's already been passed to Debt Recovery and I'd have to appeal to them, which I didn't do.

What normally happens next? Are PCM likely to just go away, or should I expect further letters? I think, from reading the advice, I can ignore letters and only respond to a court letter, but I wanted to pre-warn my wife that we will probably be receiving increasingly threatening letters and she should ignore them. I can't imagine they'd just go away, would they?

Yes DRP will indeed cut down lots of trees so they can waste paper sending you stupid little messages in different colours. No doubt that will include the now stale joke about Beavis as well.

DRP has no power, just imagine Mr Bean, and you get the picture.
But, do save these letters, never respond, file them in a folder marked DRP SCAMMER.

Only the PPC can threaten to take you to court (if they do) so hang loose, come back here if they threaten to do so

And, if you do move house ensure your post is redirected by the Post Office

  • So, if I don't redirect my post, and I miss a court letter in, let's say 2 years time, that's not an excuse? I have to take steps to ensure I get that letter?

I'm just thinking, a 5 year post office redirect might cost a fair bit? A 12 month redirect is £59.99 - I may as well pay the parking fine!

very true, its a catch 22 situation. what would others on here suggest ?
  • If the letter is returned to PCM/DRP as "addressee gone away" or "no longer at this address", presumably they would do another DVLA check and get the keeper's new details? Or would they see this as an opportunity to send court papers to an address they know won't be seen, and therefore, win a judgement by default? Or is that a silly question!

    possible options ....

IMHO redirects only last 6 months .......

leave stamped envelopes with the new people at your old address and with a bribe like chocolates / beer

inform the PPC if you do move that the keepers new address is .....

    update DVLA data .......

other courses of action may be available ;)

    Good luck

    Ralph:cool:
  • I'll update the DVLA data, but I didn't really fancy contacting PCM, and especially not DRP. Then again, I guess I want to be seen as being reasonable.

I'm very sorry in advance, I absolutely know the advice is to ignore DRP. Feel free to totally shoot me down......but I know I can't ignore a Letter Before Court thing, and I wanted to double check if this was it.

I know I should expect loads of DRP letters and it's fine to ignore, but I was keeping an eye out for anything that sounded like a letter before court action, and the title of this letter sounded roughly like that.

    it isn't .
  • Thanks.
I knew they might try and make it sound official so I wanted to be doubly sure I was ignoring the right ones, and paying attention to the right one if/when it comes through.

All the consistent advice on this forum is to ignore everything you get from DRP!! There will never be any "right one" come from this debt collector
