I went to 5 weddings last year and every one had this set up.
Try something original if you have to OP
Personally, I'd save your money. It's the relationship that's important not trying to ''out do'' your friends0 -
The child table at the last wedding I went to had paper, chalks, crayons, bubbles and little toys on it- it went down very well with both the children and the parents!
Kids spent ages playing and enjoying the stuff at the table rather than running around.0 -
These all sound like great ways of wasting lots of money. If you're hiring a string quartet have them play after dinner rather than for the five minutes you're walking down the aisle.
But in general save your money and spend it on the honeymoon, or on a house deposit, rather than on a few frivolities which people will have forgotten about in five minutes.0 -
A string quartet sounds lovely (if you and your guests like classical music, of course!). I agree with the above poster, it might be better to have them play later in the day.sealed pot challenge 9 #0040

Table with wedding photos from other members of the family - parents, grandparents etc if you can. Gives people something to talk about when they're milling around.Back in the red :mad:

It's the little things that some people remember like lavender on the napkins, lottery tickets for favours, purple champagne and unique song choices
To be brutally honest, only women who are planning weddings remember things like this. Most weddings are pretty much the same (the continuity of tradition is part of the appeal of course) and only memorable for extreme stuff, like a fight or the best man saying something totally inappropriate in their speech.
If you have cash to burn, a free bar or big sum behind it will always be appreciated by guests (more so than tat for favours). A live band is always fun, provided you and your guests really enjoy that type of music. I'm sure you'll all have a great time. They are an EYESORES!!!!0 -

If your going to do extras, do something that isn't done all the time. A photo booth might sound great but if you have family that won't use it then you don't get your monies worth. I agree that the bit between the ceremony and the reception or between the reception and night do can get real boring if your stood around waiting for the room to be set up. So a magician or a string quartet or some one entertaining would be excellent. Sweet tables are great, if your guests like sweets. Not all doNewly Married, not a 2b anymore!!
