    Say who?

Post either Case Law or Legislation to back your claim up.

We'll be waiting a while for you to find some.

you will have to wait a long time, it is nothing to do with case law,
I assume you have not been involved in a magistrates court then

    1) Whether you have "driving other cars" cover is irrelevant as you cannot use that to drive hire cars.

    That's not necessarily true.

Some policies (including several I've had over the years) exclude cars "hired to you, under a hire purchase agreement".

Note the phrase "under a hire purchase agreement".

Indeed, there is a place on self-drive car hire agreements, where you can decline to take their insurance, and have the car temporarily added to your own policy.

It's also possible, that the car was covered by the OP's, partner's, company's insurance.

I worked for a company, which did that with all the vehicles they hired, because 1) it saved a lot of money, and 2) it meant any employee could, if necessary, use a hired vehicle, without having to worry if they were insured for it.

Sorry, this is all getting muddled up -it was personal to the OPs post, who said she wasn't insured- I think?
If my post doesn't appear to be serious, then it is not serious. So what? Kick back, relax enjoy life and have a little fun. Life is far far too short to be grumpy!!!!

No, it's to do with this.

I've had enough to do with them to know you are wrong. Ask your DCI mate if you're still in doubt. He may know more about the service of documents than he does about traffic.

That's not 100% correct, it could be on a fleet policy. The hire company will name whoever has hired it or the provide the details they have been left.

The company may have named the partner.

    that could be possible, yeah.

If you say so, in the meantime the advice offered by HO87 is very valid and should be listened to.
This forum has gone OTT considering it is for parking fines.

Readers of this thread can take whatever advice they feel is right for them. There is simply no point in adding to this thread any more, it's well past it's sell by date

Becky, firstly this is not the forum for speeding, this forum is dedicated to parking fines

No doubt they are requesting who the driver is because they first went to the hire car company.

As it was a police van, they could have taken the picture as you approached them or when you passed them meaning the picture could show you driving.

It is no excuse that you did not realise you were not insured.
Do you have your own insurance and if so, can you drive another vehicle with third party

It is a catch 22 situation as you dont know what the police picture shows so it would be a risk to say your partner was driving.

In general, the police are reasonable and I would suggest you go to your local police station and explain the situation such as your partner was ill and it did not cross your mind about insurance.
Asking for their help in a strange situation will not cure the problem but at least you will know where you stand.
You will get points and probably fined £200-£300 pounds for driving with no insurance. Being 100% honest with the police is the only way

You do know the pictures are stills from a video of the whole session of speed enforcement?

Of course you didn't else you'd have mentioned it. Just about every post you've made on this thread is flawed.

OP ignore this poster, unless you want him to drop you in it.

Give it a break, put it to bed, it's done and dusted now
If you wish to carry this one, why not pm me, there is no point on this thread anymore.
