Next thing, Ilona they'll have you doing Celebrity Bake Off, Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity Big Brother......now that really would be worth watching, to see you sort out the has-beens and never-wases in the Big Brother House!

I'm sad that Ilona is having to defend herself so much on her blog!
If any of you guys have not read it, go and take a look please.
She has lots of good people that appreciate her lifestyle and views, which is just the same as ours on OS.:)
She's a kind lady and I believe people should be uplifted and not tried to be knocked down over what I see as a bit of jealousy.
I'm sure she can count on all our support.:T
I agree. I am surprised at how many people feel the need to attack in the comments section, when Ilona's lifestyle has no impact on anyone else, and if they dont like it, they dont have to do it themselves!
It is a shame we cant just enjoy the differences in people.

So sorry, peoples. I wasn't on Jeremy Vine today. Pete the researcher rang to say they couldn't fit it in as there was a lot going on. NHS strike, politics, and someone who was a member of a large family of ten siblings.

He said I will be on next Wednesday at the same time.

I have had a request to go on Channel 5 on Saturday morning. I can't go to London so now they are asking if I have Skype. I do, so now I am waiting to make contact with them to see if it works.

Sorry to hear about the radio. That must have been annoying. I do hope the channel five thing works. *fingers crossed*

I love YS and rarely buy anything that isn't discounted in some way. If I use a coupon on an item that I would be buying anyway, then I use it but I wouldn't just get something otherwise. Thankfully, I get so much food for free that my shopping days are almost nil. I do shop for a friend and get him bargains, and he is always amazed at what I get for him and so cheaply!

I get excited when I see reduced food. I think it's the same 'buzz' that shopaholics get when spending!

I have that buzz when I buy food for ten pence too. I think it must fulfill a basic hunting instinct or something? :D

The only snag with YS shopping is that I prefer to make my own bread, but it is hard to justify it when I can get an endless supply for tuppence a loaf.
My basic breadmaker bread has turned into a wild extravagance.
  • honeythewitch Indeed Y/S brings out the 'Hunter/Gatherer ' in us all I think. I agree, if you don't like the lifestyle don't knock it.Go splurge you money on things that you don't need or want and let the rest of us enjoy reading about Ilona's thrifty lifestyle. From what I have seen so far it seems to be eminently sensible.

There does seem to be a lot of lazy reporters around though, just copy and pasting the same stories to fill up their over-priced newspapers i'm glad I don't bother buying one anymore

More power to your elbow Ilona, didn't see anyone 'knocking' Jack Monroe when she was blogging about living on a tenner a week as a single Mum and starving, and she has earned a decent living out of the 'metrosexual ' inhabitants whom she supposedly dislikes so much :)

:) I like Ilona's blog and her style a lot. She's very genuine, happy doing her own thing, and kind enough to share her life with us.

In a world of glitz and foolishnesses, Ilona shines like a diamond among the imbecilic celebri-dross like the wretched K@rdshian clan. I just wish these so-called journalists had enough emotional maturity (and/ or enough b@lls to stand up to their editors) to write without a snide subtext about the thriftier sections of the population.

Still, I suppose if you can 'earn' enough money to pay the gas bill off a bit of cut & paste sneering, why bother to do better?

Wow! But I'm glad that's one bargain I haven't accessed, otherwise I'd be morbidly obese. (No self-control around bread you see :o)

We've been eating our 1p and 2p salad and veg items plus having sarnies from our 3p large wholemeal MrT's bread cakes . I've still got 4 packs left in the freezer and tomorrow we will be starting on the MrT's finest wholemeal loaf which was 13p will start with toast then sarnies. I've still got loads of veg left and it's still very fresh looking from Saturday. The strawberries I got 1.5kg for 60p have been turned into jam and is now sat in the cupboard. I may even go again this Saturday at the same time, one never knows.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

well done on what you can get hold of.I always think far better its sold off and used than dumped in landfill.I have yet to discover what time my local big SM reduces stuff.never seen much knocked off so far :)
I made a huge pot of leek and potato soup yesterday morning with four chunky leeks I got from Lidls,True they were not in peak condition but for 59p I have 2 litres of thick tasty soup which will last me for a week at least for lunches or as a starter before dinner. I will make and use up my peppers and sweet potato at the weekend as they are in better condition than the leeks were:).Tonights meal will be reduced smoked peppered mackerel from the freezer which I will have with some salad and a few of the mange tout beans that also come from the freezer They have been in there since last month as I got a bag of them reduced from M&S for 30p :) So far I have only a couple of carrots to buy on my shopping list and some veggie stock cubes but they aren't urgent and can wait until next week at least.I am quite happy to stay away from shopping as I just get so bored with all the frantic rush and tearing around I can find much more interesting things to do than trail around the shops :):):)spending money I haven't got on things I don't need :):):)
