I just accumulate single sachet samples and individually wrapped hotel/meeting teas and coffees. Then guests can rummage through the box and chose what they want. No one that lives here drinks tea or coffee so I don't buy it, but I probably would buy a small pack of tea bags for guests and fruit cake if I didn't have any. I do have to make an effort to remember to offer drinks when people come round - good friends know to prompt me, the rest probably think I am rather rude (but it is a rather alien thing to those without the habit). On a mission.0

I do this too!:rotfl:
I've had to shop for a few groceries this week. I needed toilet paper, eggs and fish plus a few bits. Total, £10.97.They should last me the month so hopefully I won't need to spend again until March, apart from bills.

I was made very happy with a YS haul for 99p last Tues; 2.5 kilo spuds, 2 x 1 kg carrots, bunch of spring onions and a Hovis 7 seed loaf.
Two bagfuls of healthy grub with a penny change from a squid, makes me a happy bunny. Have spent £6.54 on food thus far in February and have plenty in, so will probably only triple that in the whole month.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Whilst we're comparing our YS bargains, I went on a bit of a carb-bender earlier: 4 large loaves of wholemeal seeded bread (straight into the freezer, should save me visiting the supermarket too often over the next few weeks) and 8 huge baking potatoes for £1.64.
I've a long way to go before I reach your high standards, HOWMUCH.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

You,HOWMUCH and GreyQueen have done so well!
I love YS and rarely buy anything that isn't discounted in some way. If I use a coupon on an item that I would be buying anyway, then I use it but I wouldn't just get something otherwise. Thankfully, I get so much food for free that my shopping days are almost nil. I do shop for a friend and get him bargains, and he is always amazed at what I get for him and so cheaply!
I get excited when I see reduced food. I think it's the same 'buzz' that shopaholics get when spending!Living a frugal retirement without treading on the planet :T

Yup, that's me, I really hate buying things new and although the food is 'new' it tastes sooooo much better when it's heavily-reduced.
At the moment, I have plenty of food in and am using up some leftover italian hard cheese for cheesy things rather than buying any more cheddar. I caught up with the cheddar mountain laid in last Sept (and frozen) when Liddly had their brand heavily-reduced.
I adore a bargain, and food is one of the few bills where I don't have costs beyond my control (biggest chunk of my income is rent and council tax). I don't eat rubbish, tho, but I do like to make £1 do the work of two.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
