How much does good manners cost?

Its a simple question. Its something we are all taught as children and something we teach our children but at times all of us are guilty at some stage of our life for not having good manners. So the simple question is, how much does good manners cost?

Please try and keep this thread clean. Thank you :)

It's not something we're all taught as children, that's the problem.

I think some people don't actually know about good manners. At the weekend I was having lunch at a country pub and there was a table next to us with four men in their thirties and two dogs. The dogs jumped up the waitress and none of them said please when ordering their food.
Never again will the wolf get so close to my door

Depends who it is and what the circumstances.. usually I'm all gleeful in my use of manners.. others I realise I am dealing with scrotes, riffraff and guttersnipes and know my efforts would be wasted.

Definitely encouraged in my mini-me's though.. at least then they get a choice of whether to use them or not.

Priceless when noticed & appreciated - I've a photo of my lads up close & personal with a Military helicopter as they asked the relevant uniform properly - please, sir etc & I got whistled over to take the photo. Another lad in the queue omitted the magic words & did not get the photo.

Thoughtful sons also remember them when wanting school letters signed (& paid for) - it is just so worth the effort I'm amazed more folk don't try it!
Cost to me, hours of patient teaching but results very hard to put a cash value on!

They cost me nothing because I don't even give it a second thought, it's just automatic to say please/thank you, hold doors open etc.

I do confess that I can be a bit "mad at the world" sometimes as one previous poster put it, but that doesn't stop me doing the above. It does mean I'm more likely to withdraw into myself though.
