  • Thanks for that RAS - good advice - can they then freeze the money until the TAX IHT or CGT are clarified? or even until the relevant forms are completed. We have worked out that no IHT or CGT will be payable but I understand that whether or not, the forms still have to be completed.
  • Just a thought, but might she have got her husband to apply for grant of probate? t is possible for one executor to apply, and indicate on the form that the other executor has 'relinquished or reserved' their powers. If thats the case then it would allow your sisters husband to deal with everything without your husbands permission. :(
  • Thanks littlehobbit - hubby is looking into it...

I am beginning to think you need to have a chat with the Probate Registry and ask their advice on how to handle things. There may also be actions you can take that put the brakes on if there are attempts to file for probate without hubbie, rather than things hubbie has to do.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • Pardon? slowpoke rodriguez - I do not understand your question regarding me trolling - please clarify - or if not, can someone else inform me of what the trolling question is implying?
This comment has upset me considering my definition of trolling.
  • Please don't let a WUM (wind up merchant) put you off bingaling.

I do not understand what people get out of upsetting forum members. You are going through enough heartache and trauma at what has,and is still, happening, without that.

Terrible when family members behave like your sister has done.Families should pull together in times of grief.I will never understand how money takes precedence over family loyalties.I hope you get things sorted out soon, bingaling,it must be soul destroying.
  • Thank you for your support Froglet and Gingernutty - horrible time at mo - will update soon x
  • Update: We are now in the process of going through all bank statements for the accounts that sister originally declared on her spreadsheet. So far, we have not found any discrepancies (but maybe the over use of cash card), but we are awaiting more statements. I have also done a search on "lost bank accounts" and details of one has been notified to me that was not declared on sisters spreadsheet, but this is a "dormant" account. Have also registered with "Unclaimed Assets Register" and this resulted with nothing. I can only now conclude that there may be other bank accounts/cash elsewhere that we are not aware of.
I am awaiting Experian credit report to establish any more bank accounts. My question is, can my solicitor find any other investments/bonds/etc that I have been unable to find which are not dormant?

Look at bank statements for any dividends. Plus I think there are 2 places in UK that have shares registered with them. One is Equaniti, but can't remember offhand the other. Might be worth checking with them. Sorry, late lunch about to arrive so have to go! :o
