Do you have any household appliances that are at least 30 yrs old and still work?

  • We have quite a few things over 30 years old.....

A small vacuum cleaner from 1967
    A radio/stereo + tape recorder + record player from 1969
    A kettle from 1969
    A waffle maker from 1969 *
    A sewing machine from 1970 *
    A Kenwood Chef from 1970 *
2 coffee percolators and a milk warmer from 1971
    A coffee bean grinder from 1971 *
A food warmer tray from around 1976 *
An Electrolux larder fridge from around 1977 *
A rotary ironing machine from 1978
    Calculator from the late 70s
    Computer from 1980
    Video recorder from early 80s

    * These are in regular use, but the rest did work when consigned to the loft or the back of a cupboard.

Our first Microwave was bought in 1982, it was huge, and American. When we moved house in 1987 we bought a Combi Oven, so the old microwave was taken to OH's office, where it gave good service well after he retired in 2007. I believe they bought a new microwave in about 2012 when they moved office.

The "new" combi oven is still in daily use here, as is our 28 year old Miele oven and 28 year old Miele cylinder vac.

I really hate having to choose new appliances!

I have a (non-steam) clothes iron that was a wedding present to my sister in 1972 which she then passed to me as a housewarming gift in 1981, I don't use it very often but it still works and certainly does what it was made to do.
