It's not a big deal, a CIFAS 2 marker will do you no harm.

As soon as a company thinks there is an attempted ID theft they will register the CIFAS 2 marker to protect you and other lenders who may be less vigilant than they are.

It wouldn't be much use if they waited for you to confirm it, and registered it a few days later - by which time dozens of other applications to other organisations have been approved.

Guess what guys , I went to Halifax who told me to call their fraud line . when I called they started explaining how CIFAS protects me . Then he said I cant get a protective registration removed as it doesnt change the fact that I am a victim of identity fraud -_- .

I talked with them for half an hour to no end and the guy kept telling me that if I want a halifax account I should open one in branch and that the online application was fraudulent . The branch asked me if I want to open an account and I said no thanks . ( I am already kicking myself for even being attracted to their £5 a month reward account) .

So I left halifax and called experian who gave me a number to call CIFAS. I called CIFAS and they told me they can get it removed , Just SAR them to get all the information they hold about me (During the process of doing this they can also ID me ) then email them back when I get a reply asking them to remove the protective registration .

Halifax if you're seeing this : Your fraud team is BS and can't stop any actual fraud . Then you torture people like myself for applying in my name. I believe you and your whole team are full of idiots.

If you bothered to read the link I posted in post #9 it would tell you exactly what you needed to do to get it removed.

Hi Candyapple , I have done so and I have taken the first steps to get it removed. Please read my previous posts where I clearly mentioned what CIFAS told me to do .

My apologies, I must have missed that post. At least you got £80 out of it for your troubles, now just wait until CIFAS remove it for you.
