How do I remove CIFAS protective registration ?

Lloyds has registered a CIFAS protective registration in my name and send me a letter saying they've done this to protect me.

I don't want CIFAS , They mistook an application I made for a fraudulent one . Now Im scared to go apply elsewhere in person even because of this CIFAS.

How do I get this removed , Where do I write to ? Who do I contact ?

  • What did Lloyds say when you told them that the application was yours?

They didn't ask me if it was mine . They just sent a letter. Apparently since my accommodation was shared they have linked my IP address to other accounts. Quite weird.

  • So you haven't spoken to them about it?

Wouldn't that be the best place to start? Tell them you made the application and therefore there is no attempted fraud?

Would they trust me ? They had my number and they didn't bother calling me . I'd rather speak to them in person with my ID and go to the branch rather than call them up. From their point of view a fraud who made the application could well be calling them.

I was going to do that sir , But I was wondering if I could send my ID directly to CIFAS while I wait for Lloyds to deal with it .

If this is true it beggars belief. That a bank could assume fraud and smack the applicant with a CIFAS "protection" just based on IP address is verging on the criminal.

That makes no sense. What about the millions of other people who live in shared accommodation?

What does your IP address have to do with anything?
Protective Registration lasts for one year, but the people you register can choose to have it removed at any time.

@Candyapple : Well thats what the lady told me. she said the IP address was used to access multiple account and we believe the application was fraudulent. BS.
