Wow what a rude cousin you have.

Well done on realising and saving yourself some money

Well I've still not go her anything and it's going to stay that way! Thanks for the offer of a painting though!

I've decided it's just not worth worrying about, although OH thinks differently so the family party on Saturday could be interesting!

Well, it took 4 pages of posts but you got to the right answer in the end, Lucy. People who expect presents do not deserve them at all. "I'm sorry. I'm totally broke so no present". I had a small wedding present which was handed over with the words "You got married at the end of my grant cheque" - as if I cared! I used that pepper mill every day until the grinding stopped working and I thought of the giver every time.

Your cousin won't care - so don't give!

Well done you! She does not deserve anything and thus will not receive anything. I do not know if it is my Yorkshireness (or plain meaness) but I have only once bought a housewarming present and it was flowers from M & S in a little glass vase - I had done the conveyancing for a friend and it was really longwinded ending up with her and two preschool children living in a caravan for the summer. It is not something that my friends or I tend to bother with. I also tell friends not to bother buying me birthday presents or cards - maybe I shouldn't and then I would be able to recycle them!

Thanks, I do feel mean, but she doesn't deserve anything.

But it's just not in my nature, so I'm struggling with it a little. But still if she wants to be nice to me any time soon, that'll be fine!

That made me laugh - flowers in a vase was my initial idea too - and I'm from west yorkshire as well- maybe we are tight-fisted then?! :rotfl:
