Thanks for that I normally feel awful for giving into her. When she got married she asked 7 of us to be bridesmaids (which we all accepted) then turned round and told us we would have to pay for it ourselves!!! £200 odd later.

I'm hoping the Baby will change her, I'm just not holding my breath!

I was thinking about this whilst getting ready for work this morning and thought it was you that had to pay for your own bridesmaid dress etc. Which, btw, I think is terrible!!!!

If you don't pander to her wishes what's the worst she can do? If she's like that, family or not, do you really want her in your life giving you hassle?

Sorry to over step the mark but people like that make me feel really angry

I'm getting married next year and there is no way I'd expect my bridemaids to pay for their own stuff. If I couldn't afford it, I wouldn't have asked them!!!

Sorry, will get off my soap box now :o

    Actually I agree with you.

I think I will have a look in Sainsbury's at lunchtime and see what they have. Actually she was on about how she would be able to cook healthy food when she moves into her new home, perhaps a healthy cookbook would be an idea.

Personally I would give her the naffest tackiest ornament you could find and every time you visit make sure its on display or comment if it isn't .... should teach the cheeky monkey not to be so rude ;):D :rotfl:

This is a running joke with my friends, we have it off to a fine art, our housewarming present was a sealed glass teapot on a stand with paper flowers and butterflys in it:rotfl:

But how about putting together a hamper, bath bomb, candles, bottle of wine and a few choccies either in a cheap wicker basket or a decorated plant pot.

I have a feeling it's going to be something like that. Or I'll loose interest/she irritate me and they'll get a bottle of wine (which she can't drink because of the baby) or nothing.

I'm in shock!!! How bad of her to expect an expensive present... I'm moving in 2 weeks and I haven't even thought of expecting gifts..... There's been some fab ideas on here, so if anyone wants to come to my housewarming party I'd love all that's been mentioned, esp the herb planter :rotfl: :rotfl:

Seriously though, I don't think you spend a lot, teach her a lesson. Get a plant or something for her, but don't spend more than £5! x

    I didn't intend to!!

I wouldn't expect anything either, perhaps a card, but that's it.

    Part of the Furniture
She's only your cousin after all, not a sister or an in law or anything.... Some brill ideas here for gifts but you will do what you think best.

No more than a fiver! And that includes a card , lol

    Right Problem solved!!

She's not getting anything, not even a card!!

Apparently they have been in the house a week, which she hadn't bothered to tell me. And when I saw her at the weekend she was so rude to me, My Mother nearly stepped in and said something.

My cousin wouldn't look at me, barely spoke to me and every time I tried to speak to someone she interupted and spoke over me. So there will be NO house warming gift and NO house warming card (My Mum's not bothering either) I don't care if that 'wrong' in her eye's. I've not done or said anything to her for her to behave like that.

So she can carry on being a selfish little madam all on her own, thankyou very much!!!

Ok rant over....... Just had to get it off my chest, I know you can't chose your family, but really do I deserve to be related to someone like this!!!!!!

It just hit me, how ungrateful and unpleasant the girl is. And I can't see why I should bother when she is willing to treat me like that.

Perhaps that's selfish of me, but I really am trying not to care!
