Any recommendations for which specifications I should look for when buying a laptop from Currys? I'm thinking a refurbished one
I had a ACER ASPIRE E1-570 which sadly is too expensive to repair , faulty motherboard (this is my previous "repair" thread if it makes any difference https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5381529 )
I am looking for something with similar specs, at the time I was recommended to go for Intel CORE and at least 4GB , are the specs to look out for in 2016 the same? or different?
I need for basic stuff, not for playing high res games or anything like that
thank you

Either get a cheapie and keep it off the blanket or get a new one with an extended warranty(up to three years) and keep it off the blanket.
Examples here.. and here
You don't need to purchase an OS...0 -

At that money, you can get brand new.
Funnily enough the missus has just emailed me with a similar requirement for a laptop for their works meeting room. The three examples she asked about were.

Not recommending any of them, just using them as examples, but all three meet your initial specification (other than being AMD Quad Core instead of Intel)0 -

I think it's commonly accepted to be the cheapest laptops and they give you support
I will also need to pay by installments as I don't have £300+ spare now. I am not sure the sites you linked in your following post allow that, I'll check now, thanks for linking them0 -
cheers, I thought help can only be available for people on benefits or on very low income? my job is around 21,22k a year0 -

I was thinking £60 or £70 a month, a £300 lappie should take 5 months to pay off I reckon? not sure what interest they charge
I could wait to earn the full amount but I really need it now
what would you advise?0 -

Cheers, yeah I had a quick look at Tesco too, but there's a huge thread here warning against buying them from Tesco...:(0 -

Very (i.e. the Littlewoods group) give 12 month free interest but make sure you pay it off within the period as it's nearly 40% APR after that time. Have a look around for more interest free places.

At curry's Note there is a £25 settlement fee if you go for the 6 months IFC option
*6 months after purchase you choose to pay - amount of credit + £25 settlement fee
