  • Thanks again for those suggestions I'll take a look.

McKneff - The holiday isn't for me, it's for my friend and her boys, I've never been to Blackpool so can't comment, but each to their own and it's where she and her boys want to go. She's not keen on a coach trip either, but thank you for your suggestions.

My plan is to look at the che deals/trivago type websites, then check out the reviews on trip advisor with my friend, she can make a short list and then ring the hotels direct.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Thanks
  • Have you thought about the budget Hotels? Travelodge or Premier Inn. There is one of those chains at the Pleasure beach itself. All rooms are ensuite and clean, however you would have to pay for breakfast. I can recommend the Premier Inn breakfast. Kids eat free. It's all you can eat, hot and cold food. Sometimes if you book in advance you can get a good deal.
  • Thanks for that suggestion Millerose, I've just had a look at the Central Premier Inn, I'll put it on the short list for perusal this weekend!

We visited Blackpool a few years ago so The Vikingettes could visit The Pleasure Beach. As a result we did a lot of research on the place. And I agree Blackpool isn't for everyone but we enjoyed it.

We stayed at The Travelodge at Lytham St Annes. This Travelodge has no parking and you often have to park 3 or 4 streets away but we paid £66 for 3 nights in August! :money: Around the corner were plenty of restaurants to eat. It was nice to drive away from the hustle and bustle of Blackpool each evening and go somewhere tranquil.

We looked into bundled tickets - The Blackpool Resort Pass and The Blackpool Big Ticket.

The main difference is that The Blackpool Resort Pass includes The Pleasure Beach. So we bought 2 of each as Mrs V. and I didn't want to go on the rides. We found an offer on HUKDs for entry into The Pleasure Beach for free (£6 saving each) so we used two email addresses to book free tickets on different days to cover ourselves if it rained.

A lot of B&Bs offer a parking voucher for £5 for certain car parks :
    https://www.blackpool.gov.uk/Residents/Parking-roads-and-transport/Parking/Parking-offer.aspx

With the Blackpool Resort Pass you can add a 7 day parking ticket for certain car parks for £20. Just print out a map of the car parks and be very careful as some car parks adjoin each other and it's easy to park in the wrong one.

  • Thanks for your help Vikingaero, that was a good deal at Travellodge, my friend won't be driving so will need somewhere in Blackpool. We will look at the ticket bundles. Thanks again x

While it's true Blackpool isn't for everyone kids love it, kids don't notice the things adults do, all they see is FUN.... We go yearly for a Forces reunion and have a great time as we too see past the crud....
  • we stayed at the Adelaide hotel in November

If you're looking for something scrupulously clean and friendly, but homey and fun - I can personally vouch for Julie and Phil at the hounddog hotel

We booked online and ended up in a truly horrible grotty little place that stank of old fag smoke.

Went for a wander and bumped into Julie nattering with a neighbour. She was so friendly, asking us how we were finding blackpool, and when she heard about out horrible start to the holiday immediately took us in and made us feel part of the family.

Our review on trip advisor is dated 6th December “The Best Place in Town”
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.
