Can we use disabled parking for removal van?

If the driver (or a passanger) of the removal van is disabled, you can use the disabled parking.
You could apply to the council for the bays to be suspended and reserved for the day.
You could park elsewhere where there is a space further away.
you could park illegally.0 -
It's probably best to ask the removers what they want you to do. They will have much more experience of this than you.
And it's them that will have to pay any parking penalty; or block the road; or carry stuff a long distance etc.
Did the removers visit to do an estimate? If so they will have seen the road. Did they suggest anything then?0 -
You have to be careful about assuming that no longer needed road markings are no longer in force.
In this city, a whole area of terraced housing was demolished, leaving dozens of empty streets with yellow lines and residents only parking bays , which were needed when the area was well populated.
However, some time after demolition, local workers and college students were fined for parking there, although they were causing neither inconvenience nor taking someone's right to a parking space.0 -
OP if there are no signs on posts accompanying the disabled bays then there are informal and no offence is being committed by parking in them.
If there are no signs (I.E. an informal disabled bay) then it will not be in a CPZ as these disabled bays are uncontrolled and therefore a 'hole' in the CPZ that can and will be taken advantage of.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. How did you tackle the situation when you moved into the property?0

If it's a controlled parking zone (CPZ) and you're in a borough that lifts and shifts or clamps you'll probably end up with a much bigger bill!
Which borough is it?
Thanks to all! Seem to have started some intense discussions there ..:)
Marksoton, the borough is Lambeth. I will also take a look and see if I can find info about their fines. But if it is true that informal disabled bays in a non-controlled zone constitute non-controlled bays then we shouldn't have a problem. As it is only for half a day and they sit empty all day apart from the half hour when parents use it to pick up their kids, I don't feel too much moral compunction...0 -

Can't you ask a couple of friends/family to reserve a spot with their cars?0

I wouldn't do business with a company or individual happy to incorrectly park in a disabled bay .. (yes, even if that costs me time, money & inconvenience...)
Good old British traditions of decency & fair-play ??0
