Been looking for a ford fiesta zetec s for a while now. After browsing a lot of tat I have found this local to me.

Ford Fiesta 1.6 Zetec S 2006 - 47k miles - £3,199
2 Previous owners
Private sale.

Looking up value on autotrader comes up as £2,450. But I'm not sure if this is an accurate value. Any opinions on if this is a good deal? :o

No way would I be paying over £3000 for a 10 year old car!

A quick scan on Autotrader lists lots of 08/58 models for £2000-£2500

looks to be way over priced to me i would say it should be about a grand lower than that £2200.00 would be a more realistic price

as above i would not be happy paying that much for a 2006 car

Yeah, I got a mint 59 plate VW fox over two years ago with 16000 miles on the clock for barely more than that...

Very overpriced for a private sale. That's top end dealer money

A VW fox isn't comparable for a Zetec s fiesta.

True but having owned both, our fiesta was brand new high spec model, full leather etc they are both little run-arounds at the end of the day :) Only the fox is cheaper to run and more practical thanks to the moveable back seat.

It's certainly overpriced, and having looked at the ads on AT, I'm guessing you selected that grey one because it's one of only a couple at that mileage in the UK, within a budget of under 3.5K?

Plenty more to be had all over the place for a lot less money, with a few more miles on. Do you really want a 10yo car that's done less than 5K a year and doesn't have a FSH? It's not a 1.0L shopping box - that 1.6 lump takes a lot more warming up, so very low miles isn't that good a thing, and really should be backed up by an extensive history of maintenance at more regular intervals than manufacturer guidance. MOT until March this year? For top money I'd expect a full 12 months.

This one's another run-on-a-shoestring example, with a chancer of an owner trying to cash in on the fact it still looks shiny.

Personally, I'd be looking for something that's done at least 6-8K a year, and I'd be travelling as far as necessary for the right car - if you really want one that badly, you'll make the effort to go the distance to get one.
  • have a look at the Honda Jazz. It comes top of Honest john review in its class. for that kind of money you should get 57/08 plate with a full service history at average mileage
just because you are paranoid doesnt mean to say they are not out to get you

I get the impression the OP isn't really in the Jazz target market. Especially since he's said 'I've been looking for a Fiesta Zetec S for a while' and keeps posting up details of Fiesta Zetec Ss he's considering buying...

Or even a Seat Ibiza. Lots of good examples of those about. How about this one, 2010 Sport Coupe model, one owner, FSH, 3mth warranty etc for almost the same price!

He'll not like that. It's too leggy.
