Yes I think you need a contrasting floor colour If you go for the grey units. My tiles each came in a long plank shape and are a natural wood colour so offset the units quite well.

I had vinyl flooring and it really looks like wood. Best to pay as much as you can afford, it’s not cheap to get something decent.

I still have quarry tiles in the kitchen but believe it or not have vinyl flooring that looks like wood in my living room now.

  • Make sure you do your research into Wren kitchens, two of my daughters friends had kitchens from there and had nothing but problems and their customer service was rubbish

  • Sorry you have been unwell and building works sound exciting. Disruptive but it will be lovely once finished. We had a new Howdens kitchen two years ago now and are very pleased with it. We went for the grey gloss units.

What about your walls?  Are you thinking tiles or splashwall type.  Splashwall was the BnQ name for what I had in my bathroom & is definitely the sort of thing I will be having in my kitchen when I finally admit I can't leave it any longer.  It is so easy to clean.  I can do all my bathroom walls is less time than it used to take me to clean a couple of sq ft of tiles.  It isn't cheap but is absolutely great!  (I don't have any shares honest - although perhaps I should!)

Thanks for the ideas everyone. We’re thinking white tiles for the walls to keep it bright. The showroom had a combo of grey and white units which dh liked....I wasn’t too sure. I’m terrible and can’t make my mind up to what I want.
I said I’d make tea tonight - my first time at making anything since I came out of hospital. It will consist of getting a hm spag bol out of the freezer and putting some bake at home crusty bread in the oven 😄👍

I managed to make tea - I even cooked pasta. I got the tub of bolognaise out of the freezer......last week the microwave was on top of the drier in the new bathroom area......today it was sitting in the middle of the living room floor in a pile of ‘stuff’ nowhere near any electricity 😂😂 so I put the tubs of Bol in a sink of water 👍 to defrost. Then I couldn’t find salt or my tub of grated Parmesan. It was an experience....I’d planned exactly how I was going to organise everything so it would be easy when the kitchen was out of action.....then things changed and dh ended moving everything at the last minute.....so I haven’t a Scooby Doo where anything is 😂😂😂 it’s stopped me getting bored though 😂😂😂😂 Half of the cans are in my sideboard the other half shoved in the front bedroom.
We expected the walls being plastered today but the plasterer is poorly......can’t be helped.
I’m having my hair cut on Wednesday morning- it’ll be good to chat to a neighbour who does it- she is a mobile hairdresser.
