SA the kitchen is looking good. Thanks for the recommendations everyone.  It will only be units we’re buying. My cooker is only 3 years old and dishwasher is ok - we hardly ever use it.....hope I’ve not jinxed it saying that. My fridge is making funny rumbling sounds....we’re hoping it keeps going until the work is finished - so eventually that will need replacing - but not until it packs in -  and the cooker hood is ok so we’re reusing that. I quite fancy pale grey units with a light wooden colour worktop and the flooring is a parquet styled wood design. My washer and dryer  are both less than a year old and will be in the loo room. We are using some of the wall units from the kitchen in the loo room - storage for ds precious belongings (interpret as junk🙄😂)
I can’t wait for relative to be able to visit and use the facilities without having to struggle upstairs 😄
The scary thing will be sorting everything into new homes.....I think a fair amount of stuff can go to the charity shops......But that’ll be a few weeks away and I should have a bit more energy by then so will enjoy doing it 😄😳

I would love pale gray units.
Will be fantastic when it is finished.

I’m hoping so Beanie......won’t be getting done again for a VERY long time - so will have to learn to life with whatever we decide on.
Dh is currently in the kitchen brewing up and will have to carry drinks around the outside of the house 😳😳 in the cold and dark 😳😳 Think we’ll have to bring some tea/milk and the kettle in living room tomorrow if the screen is still up. Pity we didn’t think of it earlier whilst it was light......

  • Your kitchen looks lovely SA. I'm laughing at your DH having to carry drinks around the outside of the house, although it must be infuriating for you both. I hope you get more energy soon.

We’ve undone a part of the screen so that we can nip through into the kitchen area.🤪🤪so no more late night meandering through the dark with cups of tea 👍😂
We looked at Wren kitchens this afternoon....we have an appointment to go with measurements next Sunday - it’s on a retail park literally across the road from ds, since we were so close it seemed silly not to 👍 So we will call to see ds  for tea next week too. They’ll send a fitter to measure up after that. They usually charge £200 for the privilege but have an offer on doing it for free atm. Also reduced priced units. We looked in B&Q but they didn’t have any grey in the shaker style I want - I’ve changed my mind from handleless to shaker as I think it’ll suit the space better. So I am now sitting in ds house absolutely shattered as ds and dh cook tea. We will price Howdens and maybe see where else does kitchens.
Ds and Dd are both panicking that we’ve been going out eating in WSp00ns - I think they’d like me shielding and not leaving home or having any workmen in the house. But I’m taking precautions. Blooming virus 😡😡
I didn’t do much yesterday other than visit WSp00ns for a bacon butty for breakfast -  we had a couple of workmen in at 8 am 😳 We had a walk - we were going to go to a little park not far from where we’d parked but by the time I’d walked to the park I was too tired to walk around it....so we walked back. But I enjoyed nosying in peoples gardens. I’ve managed virtually 3000 steps daily over the last few days.....not all in one go but better than the 200 I was doing previously. I’m getting there.....this was linking ds arm though - I’ve not ventured out on my own yet.......
Hope you’ve all had a good weekend

  • Great to hear that you have been out and about even it was tiring. Glad your DH is not running outside at night with cups of tea. Sounds like a lot of decisions to do with the kitchen, but you need to get it right for yourself and DH.
Life is an adventure, never stop exploring.

  • I have shaker style units and I still really like them. They are simple and such a classic design that they don't date. I hope you find something you like.

It's quite funny but also sweet when your children worry about you and tell you off for not being careful enough (in their eyes anyway). It shows they care :).

Can echo @Sun_Addict re Howdens (and also her thoughts on the oven though you won't need a new one!). I have light grey glossy units and darker grey concrete look tops (though I'm not sure now if I would have preferred plain white tops!). I picked ceramic tiles for the floor, but they have a rustic wood plank look - everyone thinks they are real wood though!  Much better than real wood in a kitchen in case the washing machine floods!  You could put underfloor heating here but my flat is warm so I don't need it.
Glad to hear you're getting out and about a bit. 😀

The tiles sound interesting SSG. I want something that looks like wood but am a tad nervous of water spillage. I don’t want a grey floor even though I want grey units.....
