Good and Bad Buys from Aldi & Lidl *Do NOT Expire Please*

Aldi's coffee beans are quite good and excellent value. If you buy a single cup filter it isn't that much slower than making instant and it at least tastes like coffee which, to me, no instant ever does.0

Seems to be a tuna shortage at our Aldi again. Mind you the shelves seen unstacked for most of the week now (it is a busy store though). I went to the new format Aldi and found it much nicer.
Also they appear to have stopped 12% mince. The beef steaks have gone up in price and seem to be shrinking. The new beef joints and brisket have shot up in price since they disappeared (brisket used to be about £5 a kg and is now £7.39 per kg!
Finally the large three pack of onions is so tiny now. They are almost the size of those on a bag and at least you get a KG of onions for 62p versus three tiny ones.0 -
Quite a few price reductions in Aldi today, using a new red "Price Cut" shelf-edge label.
The 300g 13/14 slice packs of Ham and Chicken which have got progressively cheaper over the years are now down to £1.12. (I think I remember them originally being £1.59... maybe).
Falafel service has been restored to normal, with the Beetroot ones disappearing as quickly as they arrived.
There are a couple of new varieties in the SlimWell range of low calorie, big portion frozen meals - BBQ Chicken and Vegetable Biryani (not tried either yet).
And there are lots of Christmas items...0 -

(Although that could be that I normally have Decaff, so anything with a bit of ooomph to it is an improvement).0 -
I popped into Aldi this evening, for the first time in ages. Its so much brighter and airier than the 2 local Lidls, which are totally congested.
It reminded me that I can always find nice fruit in Aldi, and it lasts. However I caved and bougt some mince pies - a nice little something to go with Bake Off this evening. I'd promised myself not Christmas treats until December, at which point all bets are off! - but as the expiry date is 4th Nov 18 I'll either have to eat them or donate them back to a food trolley.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Funny you should say that. I see so many people moaning on FB about the fruit and veg from Aldi. Saying it never last that long. I just finished off any apple yesterday put it in a crumble, that had been in my fridge for a good couple of weeks. Was not wrinkly.
I have had carrots that again have lasted weeks and not turned bendy or black. So no idea what is going on there.

Frozen apple strudel from Aldi at 89p :T
Great taste and although the packet says serves 6, I would say serves 4 but can't argue with the value for money at that price.
I must try the mixed fruit with custard next time0 -
Ok, its killing me to have to recommend these as already they are flying of the shelf in my Lidl
J.D Gross Selection Chocolate
I think they were £1.49
Lovely, pure indulgence
Nice thing is they are in a lovely box so ideal gifts, if they ever last long enough to wrap lol0 -

I've never had an issue with fruit & veg from Aldi either. I'll buy enough to last a week or two and rarely have any waste - usually bagged salad leaves/spinach if anything, but that's the same wherever I buy it.0 -

My 1kg bag lasts me a week this way, and this way I get some veg to snack on instead of reaching for confectionary.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
