I think I’ll get a couple tomorrow and try them in a soup or something.
  • 6 large Golden Delicious apples for 65p is a genuine bargain in Aldi at the moment.

    New product at Aldi:

Malted Wheats "Protein Boost" Granola. I'm somewhat sceptical about heavily processed breakfast cereals, and this looks like the product of a bad accident on the production line. However, it actually tastes great, and stays pleasantly crunchy without being as hard as some granola can be.

It's inevitably more expensive than plain Malted Wheats at £1.19 for 650g.

There's a new 10 check-out large Aldi that's recently opened, it's a different layout with fruit and veg by the main entrance, seems to have a bigger range, has anyone else been in a larger store and do they have a bigger range generally?

I would imagine so. All the shelves are arranged in accordance with a planogram, based on store size, layout and what is known to sell.

Yes - a considerably wider range, depending on the size of the new store.

And the new Lidls look remarkably Waitrose-like. Now they just need to match the work Aldi have done with their food and wine ranges in attracting Waitrose customers.

Have not seen a difference in the stocked items in the 2 stores in my town.

But one of the stores has the vegetables at the front with the bread and cereals at the back. I understand this store according to staff, was the test store for this layout scheme, as it was new and busy. been like this for well over 8 months, maybe more. I actually like it.

This store also has all the prices below the stock on the shelf and not above as I have noted in the other branch. I prefer the price labels under stock as well.

Are either of these 10 checkout stores?

As I mentioned in this earlier post:

back in March I purchased a mens razor from Aldi. When I went to buy some replacement blades a few days ago they were nowhere to be seen (nor the razor itself). Suspecting it had been discontinued I contacted Aldi. I've just had a call from them confirming that's the case (which is a great shame as it was the best razor I've ever found!). Anyway, apparently I can get a refund on the razor itself, as it's no longer deemed fit for purpose. I'm rather impressed.
