I actually really enjoy proper lettuce soup. Sometimes I add water cress and/or rocket for a more peppery flavour, or maybe a little left over blue cheese. It's especially delicious served cold in summer and garnished with some baby pea shoots.0 -
So last year our Aldi had frozen turkeys left over for a good 2 weeks at £5. This year nothing, so clearly they realised there error.
Oddly all the Xmas food which was reduced on the 27th has now returned to full price. There isn't much left though, a lot of empty shelves at the moment.
A shame as I really wanted some more Salted Caramel cream, but as soon as Xmas Eve comes, the stock is cleared.0 -

I very much doubt it's a case of error and more like people turned up to buy all their (food) stock so they have very little left to offer. Surely the lack of goods you claim are curently unavailable is testament to their quality/popular so need to get in early.0 -

You should have stocked up beforehand. To rely on stores such as Aldi for last minute seasonal stock is insane. They never overstock like mainline supermarkets, which then sell off surplus at reduced prices.0 -

I think this year has been the worst I can remember for reduced Christmas edibles, across all stores. For the first time (I think?) supermarkets were reducing things like boxes of biscuits the week before, rather than after Christmas - and this is just one example.....
Not sure if the empty shelves are because there's been more publicity or stores having less stock? Whichever, I am more than a tad disappointed.0 -

Birds were in shorter supply this year as many farms abroad had to cull their animals due to bird flu. Also very expensive this year. OH went yesterday and there was plenty of other reduced Christmas stuff at Lidl.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -
Aldi Sticky toffee pudding (in chiller cabinet) lovely, had with Lidl Gelatelli bourbon vanilla ice cream. Which was especially nice as was free with Lidl scatch card.:T
But would buy again. Also the Lidl tower gate chocolate chip shortbread rounds and original, lovely.Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job. MORT by Terry Pratchett.0 -

I wouldn't quite say 'never overstock' but it's pretty rare. A few years ago all the large hams and fresh turkeys were accidentally reduced at a local Aldi, not by 30%, but to a fiver. The word got out and the shelves were rapidly cleared.
I got some non-food bargains in Aldi's online Winter Sale. Their excellent Oxy stain remover for coloureds, some extra-roomy ladies' socks and trainer socks. Postage free and arrived in a couple of days. Splendid....Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

Don't overstock? today my local had big piles of pigs in blankets all going out of date tomorrow but still not reduced. I am keeping my eye on the piles beef joints not got long left, the mountain of pricey Angus ones run out on the 10th.
Disappointing number of Aldi reductions (Lidl is full of orange labels reductions). I did however pick up a great big ham joint, its pre-slow cooked and marinated, you just finish it off in the oven for 45 mins. Its just cooled down and I ran it through my slicer machine, packed with separator sheets and in the freezer as months worth of delicious proper sandwich ham not processed watery stuff. It was originally priced £12.99 but was half price £6.490
