You don't need anything for dial up, by definition you're using the voice line. The MAC was only introduced for broadband because it's the migration authorisation code. With dial up you can dial anyone you want there's no restriction on which telephone numbers you're allowed to dial so there's nothing to migrate from and to. Common sense. And it's MAC/mac not "mac code". That's the same as saying PIN number, another example of RAS syndrome."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

My main email addresses are my own domains but I also use gmail addresses etc. Can't remember the last time I ever used an ISP address. It also looks more professional to have your own domain as well and also useful in reducing your spam by selectively giving out numerous different addresses."She is quite the oddball. many many thanks for all your help and replies - much appreciated! I think I'll bite the bullet and go for it with broadband plus prob new email address. Having been at my parents' house for a couple of days and used their broadband I was drooling at the speed compared to mine. Can't be that hard I'm just always a big procrastinator when it comes to doing things I'm not that knowledgeable about and make it into far more of a nightmare than it prob is!
Thanks again!0
