it's quite easy and should be pain free to swap from dial-up to broadband...all you need is a mac code/key from your ISP.................

    More drivel from 'computerwoman'!

NO MAC REQUIRED, SO WHY CONFUSE THE ISSUE?

Don't think I'd advise people on using the ISP's software either: "you just put in the software they send you "

Agreed, I have never used any ISP's installation CD, simply not required.

There may be no such thing as a stupid question but there are plenty stupid answers posted by some people!

That was certainly the "worst case" scenario I had in my mind when I wrote the post. But like espresso I've never installed any ISP's software no matter who the ISP is.

You'll have to check Orange's terms and conditions, you may need to still dial up into Orange every few months or so to keep your account active. Otherwise they could just close your account altogether. I always advise people to use email addresses independant of their ISP, preferably their own domain name, if not then something like googlemail or hotmail. Because no matter what you get away with now, ISPs may change their terms for email addresses on a whim.

Absolutely correct, they (orange) just deleted the email address I was using, which was linked to an old dail up account.
