Don't want my debit card to arrive at my address ! What do I do ?

So basically I live in a shared house at the moment , But I really really don't trust some new tenants who has come downstairs after one of them was found opening my letter!

I want to open a bank account ,but I don't want the letters and documents to come to my home address.

Is there any way that I can get it delivered to my girlfriend or idk anyway I can collect it from the branch or something ?
Royalmail redirect won't work as I can never get past their card payment thingy online or in person for some reason they said they won't do it for me.

Yes you can arrange for the bank card to be collected from the bank branch itself. Often banks prefer this in your situation
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Should I call them and tell them this ? As I'd be applying online . And what do I need to take when I go there to collect my card?

I was in the bank today, waiting in line at customer service, the women in front had a similar problem, I don't know what they done, but they done something.
I'm sure if you call into branch, they will arrange something.
  • Well IMO in this situation you may well make the bank suspicious of you - opening an account but wanting the card sent to a different address.

Why not get a redirection of mail done through the post office?

Hi Dan , Glad to know something can be done.

I don't want to apply before I figure out what to do. I don't mind what bank it is , Usually for me they instantly open online and post arrives quickly .

Hi Jones , I understand the different address thing , But how can they be suspicious if I want to collect all documents in branch.
Redirection for royalmail keeps saying my card payment failed even though I have money on my account so that's a dead end.

I suggest you may be better opening an account in branch rather than online to avoid confusion.

In branch they ask for like utility bills and all that . I get all things online and !!!!!!s don't accept estatements . I have my full driving license but no passport. It's really annoying that they want 2-3 documents .

  • Sounds a bit dodgy.

When applying online some banks ask if the applicant has a shared mailbox. Does anyone know what happens if one says 'yes'? Does the bank send the card Recorded Delivery or send a letter to the registered address asking the applicant to attend the branch?

I know if you lose a card abroad the replacement is sent to the registered address in the UK, not abroad:)

I'm sure the banks have this all sown up and don't need us to worry about finding ways around the standard system

Just ask them and they will help I'm sure.
