  • Hi all,

    January update...

The January OP was less than the budgeted amount, as I had to pay upfront for an annual bus pass, rather than being able to pay monthly :(

The January OP was £1400, and balance outstanding is £55,700.

    11 months to go...

    Hi all,

    Update for February...

So we managed £1400 again this month, which was less than budgeted due to some unforeseen costs this month.

Going forward, I need to save up for a car, as the current one has a few problems which would be too costly to fix, therefore will only be able to pay about £1k each month.

The February OP was £1400, and balance outstanding is £54,300.

    10 months to go...

    Hi all,

So worked out some figures and have decided to save £600 (per month) towards a new car until the end of this year.

This means sacrificing about £400 from the mortgage overpayments every month. However, the sacrifice is justified, as the car is a necessity for us and we have been driving the current car for 5 years, and it was 5 years old when we bought it, so is starting to creak.

So, this month, have OP'd £1400 altogether, which means the balance stands at around £52,905.

So, here is something I saw this week which made me smile...its the mortgage balance over the last 6 years...and the regular OPs have meant we have managed to OP £100k in 6 years!!! :D

    I hope this motivates others.

Love your table format, and the figures are really motivating. Its a great way of tabling the balances over time. Quick query though, how do you post the table in here?
