Can I just ask from someone who has been through it and come out the other end....is there anything you put on hold or didn't do while OPing that you regret. I have 2 young boys (4 and 1.5) and just trying to find the right balance. That's a very good question...I have a young family as well, so it is a difficult balance. The time with the kids is precious and so you have to make the most of that.I don't think there is anything I regret really... we did try to make sure we don't sacrifice in terms of the kids well-being and happiness. In the last ten years, we have had holidays to America, Germany, Wales, Scotland, and Pakistan to see family. I don't think the kids have missed out on anything. What helped was having a budget that ensured that we were still able to have a life. The sacrifice we made were on delaying upgrading the car and also holding back on upgrading kitchen/bathroom.5
