Good luck with your mortgage free journey Sanctioned Parts List. Is your mortgage on a house in the UK or elsewhere? We paid ours off early so that we could take early retirement - our pensions are very small but we manage fine without accommodation costs. We have savings in case expensive repairs are needed, but of course need to keep these intact for emergencies, and not have them swallowed up in day to day living costs
Would be nice not to have to worry about what sort of work we do; once the mortgage is gone, just about any ol' burger flipping job will cover our costs.
Princess - Mrs SPL was donated one of those window-vac gizmos. Would never have spent our own money on one, but they're great if someone else is paying. Just a splash of all-purpose cleaner in warm water then scraped dry with that thing and they're sparkly inside and out, in about 10 seconds.0 -

Morning Cat  it's cold here too but I've put my onesie on rather than the heating
Just drinking my second cup of coffee but need to get a wiggle on as leaving for work at 10.20. Hopefully being Sunday there will be some tips
Got £2.40 tips yesterday and my wages so put some more cash in the over payment pot. Have counted up what's in there and there is just over £50 :j so we definitely should achieve the monthly target of £80 this month. Have also massively underspent on groceries so should be able to pay extra this month. 1 month in and we are on target to pay it off by the end of the year :j Just hope we can keep it up!
Had to go to the supermarket for work at 6pm and managed to get some apricots for 70p, a pot of creme fraiche for 9p (need to work out what I am going to use it for over the next couple of days) and a Frozen birthday cake for 99p reduced from £10  Need to cut it up and freeze it, but by my reckoning that will last dgd until mid March for packed lunches and deserts :T
Anyway plans for the day are:
* hopefully will get a free Sunday dinner at the end of my shiftcost is £10.95 for a roast at the pub. Might join the wombling challenge Bob & Cat
* B/L/dgd's food from stores
* get oh to change fuse on washing machine - really needs to be done now!
* buy The Sun for the caravan holiday voucher
* going to the cinema with oh tonight so will have to pay babysitter but the cinema tickets are only £2.50so hopefully won't spend more than £15 and oh & I desperately need a date night!
* any tips into the over payment pot
* taking dgd to work with me this morning - have to clean between 11-12 - so oh can go to the gym and then he will come and collect her
* cut & freeze the cake and look for creme fraiche ideas - ok have just done that and have loads of ideas so this will get used up quickly
* finish polishing/tidying/vacuuming dgd's room.
Ok that's all I have time for/will do today as need to leave in 1 hour 20 mins! Better get a move on. Have a great day xDF as at 30/12/16

Morning all
Well, it is noticeably warmer here today, so no heating on :T Got colder this afternoon
Downside is it is raining againWe had a bit of sleet overnight by the looks of it, I could see it on top of the chicken house when I let out the chooks, but it had started to rain by that time.
List for today:
Eggs for breakfast (from my chickens and DD's ducks) Done
Dog walks x 2, will need to wait till rain eases off, as mutt won't walk otherwise (no use me taking him for a walk and having to carry him inside my coat) OH and I did one each - brrrr
Make a loaf in the BM Done, granary today
Make some biscuits to use up some OOD peanuts (sealed in unopened bag so should be ok). If they are ok, freeze any leftover peanuts - it is a big bag and the biscuit recipe will only use half Yummy choc chip and peaut cookiesI have frozen the rest of the peanuts (which were absolutely fine) for another batch. Also used a shrivelled lemon I found in one of the salad drawers in the fridge and made a lemon drizzle cake. Lots of treats for the week, though not so good on the waistlines front
Fed a cookie to a neighbour who popped round for something and stayed for a cuppa
HM meals from stores - cooking a piece of gammon bought at bargainous price a few weeks ago from local butcher (been frozen obviously) because of it being an odd shape - I bought several joints for £2.50 each. They are from a posh local smokehouse too, not importedDone
Aim for a NSD Grr I think I am going to have to buy a pint of milk as we are running out. I don't drink it but OH can't do without it for his hot drinks
Any surveys, FPL etc No surveys today
Prepare postal survey items for the coming week Done
Bit of ironing  Must do this as the skirt I want to wear tomorrow is on the pile
Sorted out a load of magazines that I want to keep, but which were collecting dust in an open container on the floor in our bedroom. I put them in another, smaller container that DD brought round yesterday, which fits neatly inside a cupboard in the loungeI will clean out the larger container and repurpose it for GD's toys, as they are spilling out of the small box they are currently in
Had to put the heating on for an hour this afternoon, as it got really cold in here. Wood burner is alight now though, so lovely and toasty. Cold with nasty, sleety rain outside
(just been out to shut up the chickens for the night)
Free entertainment, one of the books I was given for Christmas
Should keep me busy for a while
Hope everyone has a good day0 -
Sanctioned_Parts_List wrote: »Thanks Dawn - the house is in the UK, we're only temporarily overseas, as the project I'm on goes into its construction phase and Mrs SPL and mini SPLs were able to come too, which is nice.
Great to be able to live in a different culture for a while, and very educational for the children. I visited Beijing to speak at a conference a few years ago, and found it a fascinating place0 -
Morning all :hello:
We have snow :j just a little so it won't last long but enough to take the smalls out in a bit with their wellies on and slush around :T hope it hasn't killed my daffs that are all confused about what season it is
My list for today:
Check banking see if Amazon have refunded an unauthorised payment from our joint account. Helpfully our bank have given it is back as a temporary measure, which is kind of them :T
Beef stew in slow cooker - a glug of left over Christmas chutney in there for extra flavour
Curried parsnip soup made at same as prep for stew, lunches for week
Used ys veggies for ^
De cluttered a big bag and some of toys yesterday whilst sorting 'homes' for everything, will do DD room later - also chucked some tat
Was going to list a chair on selling pages, but may hold off because of snow, not sure anyone will want to come and collect
Cut up melon for snacks for us all
Unsurprisingly my £75 that was due from £co today has now not appeared (just like £40 last week) and has gone back a stage in processing
Did withdraw £1.82 from work perks account from cash back, will pad to cc when arrives.
Think that's all, stay safe those that have had loads more of the White stuff than us0 -
Hi everyone
We've got a little flurry of snow as well today.Am going to take the dog out in a bit.
Both OH and I working today - it's been his busiest week in ages! :j (Think it was me threatening that he had to get another job). Need to YNAB our 'inflows' and decide where they need to go this week.
(Groceries, travel, CC #1 hopefuly)
Making myself some fingerless gloves: http://goo.gl/qqjpqw
