Trust me, as a food facility there are a LOT of controls. Even in relation to peanut based products, lines are closed down, doors sealed, warning notices put up, employees wear different coloured clothing.
Raw materials (cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, suger, powders) also undergo similar processing. But it's the same with any product - you may get occasional things coming through. I've worked in forensics for the food industry and we would occasionally see things coming in that has been processed (bits of wood and stalk from bean based products, glass or stones from rice) but trust me, there is no need to be worrying!
I'd say ignore and carry on enjoying!
Thank you! I was hoping someone was going to come on here and say they had worked in a factory or the like and that it possibly was a bit of a red herring.....Now that would be something to find a new chocolate bar eh!0 -
There's a video currently doing the rounds on FB which appears to show someone cutting open a Ferrero Rocher chocolate and a load of maggots crawling out. (I have my suspicions personally, who on earth cuts up a FR before eating it? Surely everyone just eats them whole?)
This has worked out quite well for me as everyone at work has seen the video and they have immediately sworn off eating FR chocolates forever. We had a couple of boxes given to us from patients so I've had a lovely time scoffing them all to myself!
Cockroaches? Yeah, whatever...:rotfl::rotfl:"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -

My boss never ate chocolate - as a young man he worked in cocoa harvesting and they all urinated in it.0
