Ive known that for a long time, but for some reason it's doesn't really bother me. I think you'd be hard pressed to actually avoid insects in your food tbh as it isn't just chocolate they get into, although it really is only a small amount.
I remember buying some chocolate covered ants once (from either Harrods or Selfridges) for my Dad. They were actually quite tasty, but my Mam was totally grossed out! :rotfl:0 -
I've done engineering in some large chocolate manufacturers and the hygiene and cleanliness in these places is second to non, on a par with secondary pharmaceutical sites. Trust me, as a food facility there are a LOT of controls. Even in relation to peanut based products, lines are closed down, doors sealed, warning notices put up, employees wear different coloured clothing.
Raw materials (cocoa liquor, cocoa butter, suger, powders) also undergo similar processing. But it's the same with any product - you may get occasional things coming through. I've worked in forensics for the food industry and we would occasionally see things coming in that has been processed (bits of wood and stalk from bean based products, glass or stones from rice) but trust me, there is no need to be worrying!
I'd say ignore and carry on enjoying!0 -

They make up days for anything if they think some people will be stupid enough to buy a special present for it.
I was sending a free ecard via that 123cards site, and the chocolate popped up there.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
